Hello everyone,
Let me begin by saying I absolutely love this forum, it is very supportive and helpful!
I had my anti reflux surgery 7 months ago and last month, I began burping again. But it wasn't a typical stomach burp(as when you've eaten a lot), rather one that developed in the throat. And ever since then I cant stop. I wake up I burp, walk around I burp, eat something burp more. Is this a typical progression in recovery? does it ever go away?
At first I felt happy, less farting and more burping. But I don't feel its coming from the same place. Also, is there such a thing as muscle spasms in the Throat?
Any advice/ feedback would be appreciated!

In my own case, I have a similar type of burp but it serves the purpose. I am one year post op and it is really more of a venting of air than a burp. It is a feeling similar to a reverse hiccup. I discovered that I could do it by accident. After I was back on solid food for awhile, we went to a pizza place one evening and I absent-mindedly ordered a soft drink as I usually did prior to surgery. I took several sips with food and then remembered that sodas were a no-no. A few minutes later I could feel pressure in my throat and I focused my mind on getting it out and was able to force it up into my upper throat and out. Since I found that I could get rid of the pressure, I have continued to drink sodas when I want one. It seems like when pressure builds up in my stomach some leaks into the esophagus and then I can force it out of my upper throat. Thank God it is only air/gas and not reflux that is leaking. I worry that it will eventually allow acid to leak but so far so good.
