I had my full nissen wrap done on the 19Th of March so I am 8 days post op and all in all doing pretty well considering I am still on a liquid diet, this site was such a huge help to mentally get me prepped for this process, I know every day brings on something new and sometimes challenging but I am hopefully for my future.

My biggest question is...when the swelling takes place does that feeling travel up and make your chest feel strange and sometimes like your short on breath? Also I have not been able to burp yet and often hiccup when I feel the urge is this normal?

Hi Keith, I saw you hadn't received any replies, so I thought I would "bump" your question. I am meeting with my doc tomorrow to set up my nf.

Hi Keith,
This is Kitt and I am on loan to the GERD forum as one of the active moderators is off on a much needed vacation.
Each day will be better but you are going to feel all sorts of weird sensations/pains as things start to heal. Around Day 4 is most likely when you first began to notice the swelling at the surgical site and this usually continues for 2- 2 1/2 weeks.
Before surgery were you having any breathing problems or do you have a history of asthma?
Most surgeons will tell you that with this surgery you will not burp - hiccups do happen.
To be on the safe side I would visit your Dr. re you chest sensations because you are also having SOB issues.
I will be checking back to see what your Dr. feels is going on.
Be well,
