The Nissen wrap is doing great in my case. I read so much scary stuff that had happened to others, I really expected trouble with swallowing and burping along with much pain. Just not happening so far, I'm pushing it a little at 10 days on eating stuff like pasta and toast (chew, chew, chew). Nothing dangerous like cuts of meat. The only dumb thing was I was starving and did a peanut butter and jelly. Big mistake! It got hung up nono and hurt a little. I sipped warm tea and worked on burping till it cleared after ten minutes. Hard not to panic but I knew it was just sticky peanut butter and kept myself from losing it. I'll stick to soft foods a bit longer.
I also quit smoking cigarettes and am using an e-cigarette instead.
Other than two incisions giving me grief from being bloated and pressing outward on the biggest of 5 holes in the middle left and right. I'm really pleased that I have not had complications from the Nissen and just moderate pain. The first day post op was a nightmare but it goes well now! -Craig

Sounds good! Do you know if your surgeon used the tube down your throat to measure the tightness of the wrap? I can't remember the real name of it.

I'm sure he did, it's standard procedure from what I've read. I got an easy to use wrap.

I think mine may still be too tight. Glad to hear you're doing well. Don't worry about some discomfort you might feel as you're still early on.

Surprised to hear you eating peanut butter. Even if you're feeling great, don't fall into the trap of eating something you shouldn't so soon. Hopefully you're a fast healer. I'm slow.

Wow - are you really burping and did your doc say you could expect to burp? I've heard that early on this may not be genuine burps.

Tell us more!
