It all started around 2012 when I became obsessed with the mexican chips called " Takis". A year later, one night I wake up choking on my own acid. I go to my regular doctor and tell her my problems and she gives me a purple pill called Nexium. I take in the night as told, and within minutes I get a panic attack. It was my first one, so obviously I had no idea what was going on. What a strange thing. The doctors put me on zantac for a month. Still not better but was not feeling as worse as before, just really tired. Around 3 months later, I was noticing that the whole wheat bread I was eating was giving me more stomach indigestion. I stopped eating bread and felt better. However, I was still anxious and still felt sick. Around fall of last year, I also became lactose intolerant. I was given anti-anxiety medications, but that was also making me feel way more depressed than ever before. Not only that, but it was making my stomach problems worse. I kept losing weight ever since that first panic attack and have not been able to regain the pounds that I have lost. 4 months ago I stopped taking any type of pills. My stomach problems have been on and off depending on what I eat, but my biggest issue is food intolerances. I was a completely healthy 18 year old hispanic, no allergies, no form of disease, nothing. Now im struggling to regain my old self again.

Around 2 months ago i started taking specific foods to help with indigestion and perhaps malabsorption. Just barely a month ago i have began taking natural supplements for the first time. My constant burping after every meal finally stopped or at least is not as worse as before. My energy comes and goes, but I am able to function and do daily tasks. I really hope I am getting better.

I just wanted a place to tell others my story and also help others who are struggling with similar issues.

Thanks for reading,

Hi Alex, I just want to say welcome and hugs to you. You are young and healthy and will continue getting better. Just hang in there and stay strong. It can be a vicious cycle. You get put on a med and that med has the side effect of anxiety and then you get put on anti anxiety meds and so on and so forth. You are smart to be your own advocate to do research and to eat healthfully going forward and you will heal completely.

Hi Alex, It sounds like you have taken the right steps to get well by getting off meds. If they are not helping, it is best not to take them. I'm sorry you are going through this. Take care of yourself. Rest and get some excercise and as Hayley said, eat healthfully. You will get better in time. Be patient.

Welcome Alex!

This is a very supporting message board. You can let out frustation here. I started having the reflux, after eating a lot of very concentrated" Mole Dona Maria"' That day I felt it going to my throat! Do not worry, you will be OK. Keep up what you are doing. Are you not taking any meds? Just curios. You will be in my prayers. Send you a big hug and like Hayley said. You will heal completly. And we all here also with you! hehehe.

Wow, thank you all for the positive and kind words. They mean a lot. Everyone has their own problems but health is truly the most important wealth there is. Wish sicknesses didn't exist

Mole? Is that the Mexican dish you are referring too? And no I'm not taking any type of meds. The last medicine I took was an anti-histamine in January. Now I'm taking natural aloe vera drink and I'm feeling slightly better. Less fatigue too. Thank you for the kind words !
