idea  Hi all,
Am going to the doctor in 2 days to discuss NF surgery for my GERD.  Been reading threads here that are so so helpful.  What I have read are the symptoms post surgery, what I have not seen are the symptoms so similar before surgery.
Have been fighting GERD for 10-15 years and been on PPI's.  This last year everything has gotten worse.  EGD shows Barretts esophagus now and hiatal hernia, not there on last EGD. I have upped my dose of PPI's and wound up with terrible diarrhea--like one omeprazole 40mg will cause me diarrhea for 2 days.  Changing PPI didn't help either.  I have taken myself off PPI's and am taking H-2 zantac OTC, watching real careful what I eat/drink.  I have trouble swallowing, swelling around my vocal cords and worse asthma, shortness of breath.
So, the symptoms I have now I guess I will have post surgery, but then I hope they will eventually go away. Spent all day in bed yesterday with a feeling like a flamethrower burning through my chest and cough.  Also got a migraine.  Don't think it was related, maybe stress and worrying.
Did anyone have these symptoms like me BEFORE surgery for GERD?
Thank you, gigi
