hi all,

i was diagnosed with GERD in Jan 14 and endoscopy at the time showed no ulcers. three months later, Ba study showed some small ulcers in mid stomach (strange as i was on meds). I plan a repeat endoscopy. Meanwhile, can anyone let me know if there is a connection between the two: can reflux be caused by ulcers or gastritis? Will healing gastritis resolve gerd? many thanks for your thoughts

Have you been tested for h pylori. It's known to cause ulcers . Gastritis can be caused by acid reflux , it's like the chicken and the egg which came first?

Then your condition should be resolved once the h pylori is cleared up. However , I think people with h pylori have a hereditary condition or are missing some type of antibody to counteract it as in some people it causes no problem. My cousin has had it and her brother had problems with ulcers but in those days they did not know much about h pylori. You still have to eat a careful diet. They said broccoli sprouts help in eradicating this bacteria, together with manuka honey, mastic gum and coconut oil naturally.

Basically your condition is caused by h pylori, which causes excess acid and gastritis is a condition of acid reflux. Hope you get better soon.
