Hello,

I've had silent GERD for about 3 years now and didn't know it until the GERD flared up two months ago and it's been quite a nightmare since. I went from weighing 215 to now hovering around 185. Fortunately, my GERD symptoms have quieted down somewhat due to the weight loss and improved diet with no more trigger foods, etc. Two weeks ago, I was diagnosed with gastritis by my GI after an endoscopy. They also found two polyps in there, but, my GI doc didn't feel they were worth worrying about - will know for sure in two weeks once the pathology results come back.

Nowadays, my symptoms are more stomach related, I occasionally feed some minor heartburn and minor throat discomfort. However, when my stomach is empty, I feel nausea, cold shivers, dizziness, etc. It gets better after eating and throwing something in the stomach to keep my acid busy on something other than my stomach lining. Constipation is also something I've developed with ribbon-like stools, which means my colon is probably swollen/inflamed?

Questions... I've started taking Aloe Vera juice along with probiotics and my one per day 40mg dose of Nexium. Can I safely add Pepzin GI to my regimen? Any side effects with Pepzin GI I should worry about, it won't cause constipation will it? Anything else I should try?

Thank You!

Hello,

It's very strange to me that you're constipated. Since taking the nexium 40mg i've had quite the opposite. My stool is closer to diarrhea than it is to constipation.

My gf has been struggling for years with gastritis and she found only one thing that really worked : quamatel . I also have gastritis now and quamatel seems to do the job way better than motilium(domperidone), which i was taking earlier and which was prescribed by my GE.

I recommend quamatel for anyone struggling with gastritis, but i'm from europe and don't know if it is available anywhere. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I used to have loose stools before the endoscopy and removal of the two polyps. Could it be that my stomach and/or colon got inflamed as a result of the polyp-removal and is causing some of the constipation woes? In any case, the pain and constipation is getting less with each passing day, or I'm tolerating it better? :-/

I'm not a doctor so i honestly don't know. You can try and eat some dairy products and see if that helps. Milk & yoghurt especially are very good for your stomach and will help your digestion as well.

hi there, i too have gerd and gastritis (minor ulcer)... not that i have a success story to share yet :-) but at least my constipation improved a lot - try soaking raisins over night, drink the juice and eat the raisins. another thing that worked for me is kefir (especially with protein meals), i found that yogurt contributed to the issue... and probiotics. not sure if you can combine all the meds. i stay off them all together trying to manage via diet (a separated food diet). i lost a lot of weight and find it hard to gain it because the diet is way too healthy i try to keep carbs down as many suggested that low carb diet is the way to go,
