Does anyone else get coughing at night and mucous and a heaviness on your chest? I have had this the last 3 nights, but it goes away when I get up.

I am already lying elevated and sleep on my left hand side or back.

Obviously having just had Botox into the upper sphincter I am aware I am more susceptible to aspiration at the moment, frankly the Botox has been a nightmare and I can't wait for the darn stuff to wear off!

Also the sniffy noses are back which I am also presuming is from the LPR.

I cannot have any surgery so looking for any ideas please.

Many thanks,

Pink

I wonder if something like www.vitalstim.com might help with your upper sphincter.

Hi GC1pink,

Sorry to hear you're having symptoms. I had my surgery because of the effects of reflux on my asthmatic lungs. I never had high numbers on my DeMeester score, but a few good reflux episodes a day/night can create havoc.

If the head of your bed is elevated 7-8 inches, the only other option would be sleeping in a recliner, where you can achieve a nearly upright position. It's not ideal, and I've never done it (don't even own a recliner), but I know it has worked for some.

I know it's a long shot, but your symptoms also sound like allergy. The pollen season has been brutal, and you could get those symptoms from pollen exposure. Do you have your bedroom windows open at night? Just a thought.

Hope you feel better soon!
Best wishes,
Denise
