I had the Linx procedure done June 28th. I was diagnosed with Gerd, had hiatus hernia and cyst removed at same time. It has been 3 weeks and STILL can't eat solids. I choke and vomit solids up (No easy way to say it). Still in a lot of pain swallowing. Would like to know if anyone has had this same experience and what to expect. Very discouraged!

Welcome to our forum. Really feel sad for your symptoms. We are not doctors but you need to stay in touch with your surgeon and let him know what is going on. You have to be really careful and chew-- chew-- chew your foods until they are really liquid. Also sip water between small swallows. This helps to prime the Linx to open. Also, the esophagus has to learn to work its peristaltic action with the new Linx. Still need to stay away from spicy peppery food as this can irritate the fresh surgery. Also, at three weeks there is internal swelling especially where the hernia was repaired which is really close to the Linx. This is surgery even though it was done through holes. Things inside were moved inside. Please call the surgeons office and let him know about the vomiting. When did you have a follow up visit. We sincerely wish you well real quick. Let us know how you are doing. Thanks. Pat

I saw surgeon today. Has me on steroids and increased stomach meds. Also wants me to take mylanta. Thanks for your concern. What a way to loose weight! Hopefully steroids will take swelling down to start solids, thanks for the support,
Nice to have knowledge of procedure.
