Well maybe I should tell u my story for some insight from this very helpful group. I am new to this site. I've always had a bit of reflux might need to take Tagamet 2 times a year for a day. I was taking baby aspirin and started eating salads and vegetables with lime juice for about 3 weeks plus eating lemon yogurt . At the same time I increased my use of stevia sugar substitute. Developed a slight below belly button abdominal pain lasting 20 minutes a few times a week for about 5 weeks nothing severe. Got an ultra sound of my uterus all fine.was eating lemon yogurt .Very much into health. Weight good, don't smoke or drink. Was belching a lot too.
Went to my primary doctor who put me on Nexium . Next day terrible acid reflux. Stayed on the Nexium for 8 days. Acid reflux would not go away! Had a endoscopic test. Told all was normal but have to small non bleeding erosive gastropathy spots. Given Carafate to allow healing. Was afraid to take ppi drugs tried all the over the counter meds like Tagamet none have helped. Have burning throat/chest. Wondering if this is all caused by the above mentioned products lime juice etc. by the way stomach pain gone. Do those erosions in my stomach need to heal? By not taking ppi drugs I'm not allowing the stomach to quiet down? No advice form the gastro doctor he was lousy. What do u all think...u all have more experience than I as of right now. Thinking of going on the ppi drugs but not Nexium obviously and seeing if my stomach needs to heal...been a month of this acid pain...am on jamie koufman's dropping acid diet and the alkaline water. Have lost weight because of it which is not good. Please need some advice.....thanks Andrea
