Gerdees and Gerdettes,
Hello my friends and Happy Tuesday to all of you.  I wanted to stop in and let you know I continue to tip toe through the tulips here and I am sorry to see people still having issues with Reflux disease.
How are you all doing with your medications?

If this were a perfect world, we would have one medication that would cure disorders without any nasty side effects. What a world that would be!! No pain, no nausea, no headaches, no itchy skin, no drowsiness and no constipation; wouldn't that be fantastic ?

For now, we live in a world where medications do cause side effects. We can only hope that the medication chosen for us provides more benefit than harm.

I continue on Prilosec once daily which seems to help as long as I don't go crazy in choosing what foods I eat.

Think of all of you and a big hug to Bill and Denise.  Hope you are both well and enjoying the summer.

I wish you peace,

Hello Kitt!

Thank you so much for stopping by and checking in on the forum; I miss your informative and reassuring presence.

Along with severe LPR/GERD, I also have Hashimoto's, as well as IBD.

In the last few months I have experienced pain (an intense ache) under the right lower rib. The pain increased with eating fats so I had to eliminate foods, particularly eggs. I took milk thistle and vitamin E thinking that my liver was having trouble. The pain subsided in about four weeks and I was able to reintroduce the few foods that I had taken out.

In April my reflux escalated and after a few weeks my chest, throat, roof of mouth, and sinuses were raw. No amount of manipulation of diet or lifestyle was changing my painful circumstances. I made the decision to increase my Prilosec from 20mg to 40mg. It took a solid week, maybe a little more, for any relief. I thought I was going to be able to carry on as I had before the pain under my rib and increased reflux presented themselves, but instead I lost the ability to eat some of my comfort foods..you know the one's you rely on when symptoms are tough? And to top it off, I'm not digesting well so that my IBD is now out of remission.

My doctor is starting his own practice and I am waiting to see him when it opens in July.
Lord, I have no idea how I'm going to bring up all these new issues during our visit, and I am particularly worried how we are going to be able to sort them all out. As an Integrative physician, my doctor believes in nutrition and supplements, most of which I am unable to take due to the severe reflux, and now the flaring IBD. *sigh*

I have followed you on Caring Bridge and pray for you often. I've been waiting for an update from you and I can't tell you how relieved I am to see you here. I thank God for the gift of compassion He has given you, and I thank Him for allowing me to get a glimpse of your life so that I may witness the His wonderful work.

Hi Kitt,

It is wonderful to see you posting here, and comforting to know that you tiptoe through regularly. You have left some tough shoes to fill, my friend! As Nina said, we do miss your comforting, knowledgeable responses, but understand that you only have so many hours in a day, and just so much energy to share with us!

Take good care of yourself, dear friend, and know I think of you daily, and send prayers and good wishes your way.

((((Sending gentle HUGS back at ya!)))

Very best wishes with your doctor appointment! Just bring that list of things you want to discuss. I always seem to walk out of the office with unasked questions if I don't have a list. I hope you find some relief very soon!
