I wanted to let all of you know that I have almost cured my LPR/GERD after 4 years of nightmare. I have taken all kinds od prescription medicines, H2 blockers, PPIs and cafarate syrup, I would say they helping with the burning sensation of the reflux by eliminating acid in the stomach, but the biggest concerns of mine was constant tightness feeling in my lower throat which was never addressed by any of the Rx I took. I also tried various other remedies like slippery elm, mastic gum, magnisum citrate, ACV with the mother, the list just goes on and on. I also had a surgery to correct hiatal hernia which was never there :) however after the surgery my symptoms were back and I was asked to do the barium swallow test again, it didn't show any hernia but at the same time the Doc who performed the surgery did endoscopy the few weeks earlier told me that the hernia was back after just a few months of the surgery (total of three endoscopy).
here is what fixed me up...
***hcl betaine with pepsin***
I came to know about this last year but didn't really believe in it as it was confusing and totally against what the docs told me and I continued to find alliterative. After not seeing any hope and the LPR symtomps worsen month by month, I was also getting depressed and lost interest in the family, was extremely sad and was thinking why me. One day I again came a post by somone who tried HCL and saw good results, so this time I immeditaly went to amazon and ordered hcl w/pepsin. It arrived in two days but was not ready yet to try it out and was affried if I would make matters worst, after two or three days I finally tried it once and felt better within 20 / 30 mins of taking just one cap. (though I took (ppi)pantoprozel 40mg in the morning) I skiped my H2 dosage for that evening and took 2 HCL cap just before dinner and wahhlaaa! I never felt that better after eating in last few months. Next day upon walking up my throat symptoms were much improved, took one cap and had something to eat in the morning, took 2 cap before eating and 1 at end of my meal, felt much better, though had little burning sensation in my chest, but was better after drinking water. took three during dinner and next day saw biggest improvement. things got better and better, with some reflux and no LPR symptoms. I will post my progress here.

Thank you so much for your efforts in helping others! This is very interesting, I wouldn't think we would want pepsin anywhere near our throat as it is activated by acid...but I'm willing to try anything. What this also says to me is that we should stay away from PPI's that kill stomach enzyme..wow, this is so great to know! Thank you so much for sharing this, I'm going to show it to my doctor and see what he thinks!
