ppi allow bad bacteria to live in your stomach. especially if you are taking nsaids also. c-diff is the worst!! have your dr.s check for this. cured myself with priscription of flagyl but really wipes out good bacteria as well. Got off of ppi by using a teaspoon of bakingsoda in 2 oz of water.removes pain within 5 min. follow by sipping regular glass of water. no need for ppi!!! been a year have only had to use the baking soda on very rare occasions. Just normal like before pancreatitis and gerd and gallbladder removal.
Please try!! I know how scaryit is to try something new because you don't know how it will effect you or if it will hurt. I was in pain for 4 yrs. Litterally could not eat at all for 2!! That is how I figured out the link to bacteria growing from ppi. it kills your acid which is meant to kill bugs in stomach. That is why reaction from acid foods. The bugs get angry!! Please try!!!

c-diff should not cause acid reflux. It lives primarily in the intestines and colon. an overgrowth of c-diff would manifest itself as diarrhea and cramping. If overgrowth is extremely bad it can cause potentially life threatening complications in the colon, along with very severe diarrhea and dehydration.

If you are taking Opiate Nsaids they are actually used to stop the diarrhea!! This is one of the reasons Dr. doesn't know to check. Because you are not presenting with the diarrhea!! And if you research furtheryou willsee that people do have C-diff without diarrhea. And the baking soda does work soI do hope that some of thepeoplewillread this and try it. It was the only thingthat worked forme..And so quickly!!

Some people do get SIBO from long term PPI use or it hinders digestion. However. not everyone does. I had to switch to an H2 Blocker. There is a breath test for SIBO that you GI can give you to identify if there is a bacteria problem. You can also change your diet (See Low FODMAPS or Fast Track Diet). Sometimes you have to weigh the benefits of PPIs. For some it is necessary, for others there are other options.

Thank-you for the info.. I was recently diagnosed with pre-diabetes and B-12 and Folic acid deficiency also. I have been trying to regain m health for 5rs now I am exhausted. But, I am definetly better than I was a year ago when I figured out the C-diff. I have been trying to learn as much as I can as well as give tips about things that have worked for me. My original diagnosis was acute pancreatitis, then gallbladder was removed (healthy gallbladder) seemed to help butI believe that may be when things turned for the worse.. I have read alot more on these threads after this post and have realized that I may not be better ever. These were some things I have learned. But, it is clear there may be more going on. I am frightened and sad alot. Any advice or tips other's have I am very opened minded!!!
