Does anybody else suffer from chronic fatigue and gerd. The same thing happens everyday, I wake up feeling ok or exhausted. It feels like i have acid sitting at the top of my stomach. I slowly come around and feel decent but then it seems like about 2-3 hours after breakfast i get exhausted and im in a mental fog. My energy seems to come back to a degree in the afternoon or evening but im never 100%.

I go to bed without any gerd symptoms and sleep through the night without waking up. This will be my 4th night not taking ambien. Stopping ambien seems to have helped but not fixed my problem. This is my second day not taking prilosec 40mg. It makes me constipated and bloated.

I feel like my fatigue is caused by either the night time acid or maybe anemia from taking a ppi for the past year and half. My primary doctor did blood tests and they came back fine. Ive also had an abdominal ultrasound and an endoscopy. Both were fine but i have to wait for my follow up with my GI to see the results of my biopsies.

I was thinking about taking some zantac tonight before bed. Anybody got any ideas or experiences?

I too will get fatigue with GERD. When my doctor first diagnosed me with GERD, he thought it was something else causing my fatigue and doesn't want to believe it's the GERD. I was prescribed Zantac and that has made me feel somewhat better and I don't feel the fatigue as much anymore. Of course, some days are better than others. I've looked at it this way, acid doesn't make us feel good, it makes a lot of us (if not all) feel sick, so in return of feeling sick and full of acid, you're going to lose your energy.

Hey guys :)

Two things come to mind here, I have GERD and I'm iron deficient which I was already before even starting PPIs. Many past posts have reported same fatigue/ brain fog even more so on meds. Some don't have it but some do, individually. I am one of them and it's quite the downer really. Maybe related to the dose in conjunction with low iron. Once I stopped the PPI's the first time , this symptom went away:)) Take care

Thanks for yall's input. I started taking prilosec again since the acid came back with a vengeance. I made some 7 inch bed blocks out of all the old textbooks the darn bookstore wouldn't buyback.

I read an article yesterday about how acid reflux can cause disruptions to your sleep cycle without awakening you. I think this is whats going on cause my reflux isn't that bad with prilosec and bed blocks but the fatigue prevents me from being productive for more than a few hours a day.
