So it's six days after surgery and I feel pretty darn good. The surgeon said most of my stomach was in my chest, but everything went well with the procedure. I stayed overnight and went home the next morning. The neck and shoulder pain from the gas was the worst, but it's almost gone now. This morning I took my usual walk which is about 40 minutes there and back. I stopped taking the PPI and have had no reflux so far. So now I'm waiting to see if having normal stomach acid will help my IBS-d. It will take some time to see about that. Overall I'm glad I took this proactive approach rather than watchful waiting. I have no trouble eating anything I want, although I'm being careful to chew thoroughly and take small bites. Seems like my appetite is a little smaller (that's a good thing.)

I'm really happy that your surgery went well. It's stories like this that make me optimistic and willing to proceed with the surgery.

I'm still recovering quickly and becoming more active. Unfortunately the more I do, the more pain in my left shoulder/clavicle area. I've had to resort to the heating pad and I'm googling for more advice.

Shoulder/clavicle area pain is gone. No reflux, no other problems. Interestingly, I can lie comfortably on my belly now and I couldn't before. Also don't have to worry about not lying down too soon after meals. Skin glue has all fallen off. Incisions healing nicely.
