Hello Everyone!

I have been unable to keep all my food and even liquids down since March. I regurgitate daily - mostly at night. I belch a lot, get full really fast and have no appetite. I often feel like food is stuck in my chest even an hour or two after eating.

I've had an upper GI, endoscopy, CT scans, blood work, a gastric emptying study and an esophageal mobility test. I've tried nexium, Carafate, and the fodmap diet but nothing significant has been found.

I'm miserable. I've lost 15 lbs. and I have no energy cause I don't eat much. I can't eat anything at work cause I'll start retching. I'm on intermittent FML, but I can't keep missing work indefinitely.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what my problem is?

I did have H pylori in February but was treated for it. Blood tests and endoscopy showed it was gone.

Did you still have symptoms after you had it?

(Thanks for responding)

Hi

If its GERD, then PPI should of made a little difference, what ppi and duration dose did you try? Some
ppi just don't work and try another till one does, have you tried H2 antagonist?
Its quite possible you have GERD, you performed every test but did you do a PH test?

What i would try is also talk to your doctors about possibility of visceral hypersensitivity of the osophagus(although sounds unlikely, its possible for few unlucky soles) and might be worth discussion doing a course of TCA (Tricyclic antidepressants) or SSRI( selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors), these in lower dosages work as nerve pain moderators, there are few others you could try but discuss with your doctor about such an avenue.

have you also investigates food allergies, there are various medication and blockers you can take for them but might be worth mentioning these to your doctor.

The nanometre test should of picked up irregularities in the osophagus. Any possibility of stress is aggravating or contributing to your symptoms?

good luck and hope you feel better soon?

HI,

Sorry for late reply, my symptoms were, bad appetite and bad smell in mouth a lot and endigestive problem as well. I wasn't able to eat at all, I was very upset with it, but than I did antibiotic course for 2 weeks, I had to take early morning and late evening, first week was very hard, I could not sleep for 5 days, I mean not in 1 min sleep, I was awake instantly for 5 days, but I did not felt any tired or sleepy, antibiotics was killing the H pyrl, I had gargling in my stomach a lot and my stomach was very hot as well and I was sweating all my body. When I finished 2 weeks course, it still was showing positve, because it did not killed all of them, I did same course again for 2 weeks but I slept well, but again I got positive, this time my GP Doctor introduced me with quadruple therapy Antibiotics, I had to take 4 times a day, all together was 3000mg a day. I finished course, and this time it showed negative finally, but I am not sure 100% its gone, so I am going to do retest again for stool sample. Stool sample is 100% accurate, rather than blood test or breathing test.

My problem now is Wind, bloating, excessive burping, Excessive saliva, also swallowing alot of wind, as well I have chest pain. Because of GERD/ACID REFLUX. Do you have any those symptoms as me? tell me which ones you have

Before doing any Antibiotics Course, I could not eat anything at all, even a piece of chicken leg, but after all this course, I got my apetite back a little, it helped me bring my energy back very slowly for now.

Its possible you might have gastritis from all those antibiotics and h pylori. When did you dons scope?

Its possible to get reinvested by h pylori, specially if you have other family/friends members that are infected or if you eat out much.

Stool sample is not 100% accurate but endoscopy biopsy rapid testing is very accurate and more so than stool and blood, but is still not 100% accurate.

antibiotics are harsh on the stomach, rather than fodmap diet follow a gastritis/GERDA diet. Try differed ppi/H2 and see if they make difference, some people take 2+ weeks for them to work. H2 antagonists are generally quicker than ppi. Your symptoms sound like either reflux acid &/or gastritis. But its best to exhaust all avenues.

I haven't done endoscopy yet, I am waiting for the appointment to arrive for the endoscopy. I want to do endoscopy to see my Gerd/acid reflux, and as well Helicobacteria Pyrl. I have made post here: http://www.healingwell.com/community/default.aspx?f=45&m=3142133

endoscopy is not ideal for proving acid reflux or GERD, unless its done great extensive to the osophagus. But the biopsy will show h pylori and gastritis inflammation of the inner stomach with high degree of accuracy and possibly other causes. Its a good procedure to have done.

But try for PH study if endoscopy is inconclusive.

I am going to do endoscopy, manometry, 24hr PH monitor, all 3 of them. I am going to see soon Gastric Specialist first, I am going to ask him that I want to do all 3 test. Endoscopy will be my first priority and second 24hr PH monitor to check my GERD/ACID REFLUX. And hopefully to do manometry as well for GERD/ACID REFLUX.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you are suffering so much. I also have to start of saying that have no medical training at all, I'm just sharing what has worked for me.

When you where on the atibiotics threatment, did you supplement with probiotics? An antibiotic basicly kills all the bacteria in your gut, both good and bad ones. If you don't supplement with good bacteria while on the antibiotics, the bad bacteria can take over in you're stomach because there are no good bacteria to hold them back.

This happened to me after 5 years of ppis combined with a horrible diet. I started belching constantly after food, passing wind, having stomach aches and feeling generally miserable after eating. I think I went to 5 different doctors and none of them had a clue. Where I live all medical care is completely free, but eventually I made a decision to go to a private funtional medecine doctor. She suspected small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, bad bacteria, candida and or other bugs (Still waiting for test results) I was put on a very strict diet and I've been eating only easy to digest proteins like chicken and homemade vegeteble juices. I've also been supplementing with prbiotics, L-glutamine and Magnesium Citrade. One thing that made my stomach much calmer was a natural herb remedy called Iboregast.

I'm also allergic/intolerant to a lot of different foods. If you eat them alot they also start breaking down your stomach, making you fell even more miserable. You should be checked for allergies and intolerances, and maybe do an elimination diet.

As long as you're not very short on money, you have nothing to loose on buying some natural remedies and sticking with a healthy diet for a couple of months. This helped making my stomach feel much better.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and information. I really appreciate it. It's sad to say, but I'm glad I'm not alone in this. It makes ya feel crazy when they keep saying you're normal, yet you don't feel normal at all.

Hi OscarCat,

If you have all the symptoms as me than you have GERD/ACID REFLUX. I try to look after my health and loose more weight to reduce stomach acid reflux at least for while.

Hi Gewarn,

Yes I was taking probiotics only after evening and now I am taking supplemen: I take, Iron, zinc, multivitamin and b complex and b 12, many more.
