I have been diagnosed with mild GERD and gastritis. I thought I was getting better and have added back some foods on the do not eat list. This morning I am feeling slightly nauseous. I don't know if it is from the GERD and gastritis or from the Paxil and lamictal I am taking. My primary wants me to have an MRI to find the source of the nausea. I would have to pay for it out of pocket. I want to explore all other avenues first.

Nausea is common with GERD. I wouldn't pay for the MRI just yet. They're awfully expensive!

Are you on a good prescription strength PPI? They do help with nausea. Not everyone gets relief with all of them though. I only used Aciphex and Nexium. The OTC ones are only half strength.

You mentioned you have a "do not eat" list. Do you have any suspicion your foods are triggering your reflux or nausea? Any other symptoms? Rapid heartbeat or feeling of a gas bubble in the stomach? You might check out some of the threads on food allergies or food intolerances in the search box at the top of the page. Also, try keeping a food journal (see other threads).

I don't know much about those two meds. You might look up side effects on drugs.com or other reliable websites. Nausea is listed for both.

I had pizza tonight for the first time in 6 mos. We shall see if the nausea returns in the a.m. i think the GERD symptoms are subsiding. The tricky part is that my major symptom of GERD was nausea and the side effects of Paxil include nausea at the top of the list. I ate a very strict diet for a long time. I am on Protonix and Ranitidine for the GERD, I think they have been helpful. Then the anxiety set in. It has been impossible to differentiate between GERD nausea and Paxil nausea.

Wish me luck in the morning. I was nausea free for over a week and then I reduced my Paxil dosage and the nausea returned the next morning.

No good on the pizza. immediately felt this tightness in my throat and then was nauseous most of the night and still am slightly. Tomatoes and cheese are on my no eat list for quite a while longer.

You sure it's tomatoes and not just the cheese? Cheese is a big one, but you might try challenge test with just tomatoes, nothing else. (See search box for threads on challenge test.)
