HI There...

Am, Walyaanyuka Lovis and i just joined this forum. For the past few months i have been experiencing throat discormfort and pain in my chest. I feel like i swallowed something and got stuck at my throat. This discormfort is more at the right side of my neck and for the moment i would feel like my neck is just about to explode' this is really stressing me. Sometimes my neck feel very tired and i hardly breath normal. The first time i visited my Dr he told me that it was something linked to Acid Reflux Disease so he gave me Nexmezol tablets and Gaviscon which somehow helped but my problem continue. 3 days ago i requested for a chest X-RAY but the results came out clear. The Dr said he do not see anything wrong with me. This is really scaring me' I keep on having this thoughts that somehow something is not right and that maybe this is something serious.

I feel relieved to share this with my fellow FORUM MEMBERS

Welcome to the forum, lovis.

X-rays don't show much of anything with soft tissue. They're only good for broken bones. Don't worry over that.

Since your doctor thinks it's reflux disease (maybe GERD) he should refer you to a gastroenterologist to get some more testing. A gastro doc can look down your throat and into your stomach to see if there are any ulcers or irritation. Lots of other easy tests.

If you have irritation in your esophagus it can take some time for the acid reducer to take effect. Since they're working, follow your doctor's advice on continuing to take them. You may need to take the Nexmezol (esomeperozol or Nexium here) for a long time. I took it for several years. If you're only taking 20mg which is the over-the-counter strength, you may need to ask for 40mg which is the prescription strength.

Hi Lovis,

I used to get a similar sensation to yourself and it used to frighten me to death, but i was told it was called Globus Histericus and it is linked with acid reflux more so to do with whats called post nasal drip, do you feel mucus coming down your throat or a sensation that you always need to swallow. trust me there is no lump r anything it is the sensation both of these things cause and is nothing to be alarmed at but if you get control of the reflux it will get better my rule was always if i was off my Nexmezol that it would take me 5 days to get back into a rhythm in my tummy so take them and see do you feel better but as the xray showed up nothing i wouldnt be alarmed xxxxxxxxx hope this helps xxxx

HI there!

thank you for your couredge words. I always have this sensation of a solid object that i always want to swallow it and get rid of it once &for all...But reading most of the posts about the same problem it gives me no worry anymore. I promise continue following my Dr's advice and soon this will end!

I am just so delighted to have found this forum with caring people.

Much Love
Lovis
