It's very simple. I've taken the Peptest and Restech tests in the past right? I did this on my home turf and made sure to eat junky food, avoid my alkaline kettle water and bot take meds. Sounds like I did everything right yes?

Then just the other day I invested in a pH meter and decided to check my local tap water for the sake of knowing. It's pH 8.0 - 8.4. It kills off pepsin. And I've been drinking it during my spit tests without knowing this. I meant to encourage the reflux, not prevent it from being detected!!

And now I can barely breath as I try using a more neutal source of water to see what happens. I can't swallow. I can barely breath. There's a lump in my throat. I've got indigestion/hunger feelings. I burp way too much. IT ALL POINTS TO LPR. And I was stupid enough to erase evidence of it without even realising it.

So now I'm back at square one. The only thing I have left to hold onto is the negative impedance/manometry, which didn't catch my mucus or lump in throat or indigestion feeling. Otherwise I have just proved to myself all my hope was false and I really do have LPR after all. I just want to throw myself off a cliff right now........

Daxter sorry to hear this. Have you tried doing another peptest with your new symptoms, and is it worth advising your consultant of your new situation

Daxter, so sorry you are so miserable. I've been there and felt like doing the 'cliff' thing, too. PLEASE find a top-notch gastroenterologist to help diagnose your root problem.

After 6 years of my own misery and trying EVERYTHING for relief, I believe I will have to have the Nissen Fundoplication surgery to correct a hiatal hernia and acid reflux NOT controlled by ANY acid meds.

Please don't get discouraged; read some of the topics about those who've had surgery and gotten their life back. You will be in my prayers!

Daxter, I too am feeling like jumping off a cliff. I sit here right now unable to breathe properly and feel like I am being strangled from the inside out. Lump in the throat and feeling like any second its going to close on me. My tests have not proved LPR and I don't know what to do for relief! Meds don't do much and according to one doc I don't have acid. I don't mean to hijack your post just letting you know to keep the faith! This ailment, whatever it is, is frustrating to say the least and can make the calmest of us ready to go insane! I'm praying for all of us to cope and somehow get out of this
