Hi all

Just an update with this hell

Well I have had a full blow gastritis flare up now, unfortunately I went stupid with my diet after coming of the retched ppi and as if that was not hard enough. I added large amounts of oil to my diet( large compared to my low fat diet i have been on for 10 months, not what i used to eat normally) I am talking about a 2 table spoons of olive oil in my big bowl of rise I made everyday and then maybe a smaller tea spoon olive oil onto my any rice i took from my big bowl and added red meat and salmon. Problem was and still am eating 10-12 times a day and this made my gastritis flare up. The reason I was taking this was because the high fat diet was giving me relief form the gallbladder pain the PPI caused. The PPI caused my gallbladder to become lazy and hurt REALLY BAD and eating something fat made the pain go away, persisted with this diet for 3 weeks and the galblader pain died down somewhat 95% easily and then The gastritis flared up badly because of the high fat, worst than ever before.

Now I have full blown gastritis and back onto a low fat diet again, I started to take sucralfate 1.5mg x 5 a day( which is more than the recommended dose of max 6 x 1g tabs a day here in the uk, not recommended but I had no choice, for a short while anyway ) but because I can not sleep at nights and end up waking up every 2-3 hours and having to constantly eat every 1.5 hours( what hell) the same food over and over, the gastritis was getting aggravated. The sucralfate was helping a little and then I have been told by the pharmacy for 7 weeks that will get it next week, next week, next week and 7 weeks on. Apparently there is a shortage in the UK for some reason. I had no choice but go onto A H2 blocker and for 2 weeks thing were fine until my gall balder pain started again and I had to get off them and deal with the gastritis without meds or anything again.

This is a nightmare, I cant sleep, eating every 1.5 hours because i am constantly hungry if I don't eat the pain is horrendous, i cant eat anything but boiled chicken and rice, cant tolerate any ppi or H2 blockers, cant get sucralfate, I cant breath properly specially after eating which is every 1.5 hours, I cant sleep so i cant recover, I cant stand up for long or sit down for long either. This is a nightmare, someone tell me this is going to end one day because its starting to get unbearable. I been ill for 15 months with gastritis and 10 months of that bad and now its flared up into HELL GASTRITIS -

Surely The stomach can recover without ppi, I wish I could tolerate ppi but I just cant, not even H2 blockers and its not only the gallbladder pain that they cause they also cause me many other symptoms. I must be one of those utterly unlucky people that just sensitive to any meds.

I am now severely vitamin deficient and my nutritional is considering recommending me for vitamin infusion although not normally recommend as they are reserved for patients who have their parts of their intestines removed or illness like crones. I am loosing vision in my right eye because of presumably vitamin A efficiently and among many others. Very tired and sleepy all the time, fatigue and so on.

Is there anyway I can get sucralfate from another country like US, specially liquid version.

When is this debilitating nightmare going to end :(

Thanks for reading

I got off PPIs , it was really bad ! Now that I am off I feel I am healing . I have been looking up foods that heal . Kefir is one of the best along with buttermilk . Cabbage is great also .
I wasn't digesting my food when on the PPIs , could eat much as tummy was bloated all the time . Low magnesium
Hope you find what will help you .

James,

I'm sorry to hear of your pain. My pharmacy also told me that I would wait for months for sulcrafate however I took my script to sainsbury's pharmacy and they do a special order and it was here in 4 days it has to come from abroad now. I actually have 2 unwanted packs sitting here.

May I suggest you phone your local sainsbury's pharmacy and ask them if they can put the script in as a special order.

Hope this helps,

Pink

Thank you both for the replies,

I will contact Sainsbury's pharmacy tomorrow and pray and hope they can help me quick.

Thank you for letting me know about locating sucralfate:)

Just a note on the rice, white rice is pretty irritating to my stomach, but I find brown rice fine. Might be worth a switch. Also try dgl tablets and pepzin gi I take them and notice the difference

Also eating every 90 mind could be too much, have you tried just drinking water after a meal, sip it for a few hours and you should hopefully be OK and it will give your stomach a rest from digesting food 24/7. I found drinking plenty of water to be quite irritating at first but the next morning you should hopefully notice the difference with less stomach pain.
