I do too! I even make it on the BBQ and I've not had probs from it. I just take the skin off b4 I eat it, no seasoning or lemon juice on it either just some fake butter and that's it. I googled if salmon is bad for gastritis and I got 2 things saying it shouldn't be eaten and 1 said you should eat it if you have gastritis! Confusing. So you have gastritis too?

Hi Jeff
The way the doctor explained stuff to us is that all meat --chicken, beef, pork ,fish-- is acidic in itself and the stomach produces more acid to digest it. If you are on ppi's to decrease the acid , then the body works harder to put out more acid and this might be what irritates the lining for gastritis. Don't know how to verify this but thought I'd mention it. Seems like eating the salmon in moderation would be okay-- I love it too and have 4ounce portion twice a week--weighed on a scale before cooking. That way not depriving myself. Good topic to discuss. These are just my thoughts. Can't say I've been bothered by eating salmon but my daughter has histamine reaction to salmon.

salmon in small amounts i could tolerate once in a while but first time I took a quite a large amount and its quite oily and it made me feel real bad. Unfortunately with gastritis is as much an individual thing as a it is a rule. If its new food then try it small amounts and see how you go.

My gastritis was/is so sensitive that even tiny amount of carrots would floor me.

good luck

Thanks for the response, yes I agree with small portions for sure, I've found out the hard way several times that if you eat until you're full even a little, no matter what kind of food it is then it will cause problems and you'll be in for a day of pain at least. As for eating meats, I can only tolerate lean meats like roasted chicken, fish, or lean beef doesn't bother it but, any pork, fried foods, hamburger definitely irritates it. Even lean meats must be in small portions too. I take probiotic capsules for digestion too that helps, along with pepzin GI, DGL licorice chewable, slippery elm powder. As for antacid pills I take 1 nexium in morning an hr b4 breakfast and carafate 3-4 times a day. As you can see I'm taking a lot of stuff daily lol. I just want to get this problem done with, I'm tired of feeling like I have sandpaper stuck in my stomach!
Anybody else take these products?

James- sounds like you have a pretty bad case of it ah? They told me that mine is mild gastritis/esophagitis but, even mild hurts plenty! As for carrots, I can only eat them soft and cooked well or the canned kind is ok too cause they're soft already. If I eat any hard or raw veg then it'll cause probs for sure. I do drink carrot juice, it's supposed to be good for it and it does sooth stomach somewhat when it's burning. Well good luck, hope you get better.

With gastritis it's a total individual thing. I can eat a huge wedge of banana cake, very fatty, and be fine, yet I have one slice of cucumber and I'm doubled over. Best way is to try a little and see if it sits OK. With gastritis I finds most things are a problem if eaten in excess, so really try small portions first.

Just started taking nexium for my gastritis about a week ago and I get jittery, anxiety with a slight fuzzy feeling in head from it, it is helping with the stomach pains a lot but, the side effects are not pleasant. Does anybody else get these effects from it? Not sure whether to stop taking or deal with the side effects cause the stomach has very little pain now. ????????
