Hi, I posted in the asthma and allergy section as well. Since the beginning of June my post nasal drip from allergies has been awful. I've also been experiencing feeling inflammed and tight in the upper chest and back. I've been thinking it's my lungs that are inflammed. My allergist and dr feel that it's not asthma since my oxygen intake has been at 100 percent. Even though they have measured it after my breathing treatment that I take before seeing them. I always see them when I feel like it's an emergency. My allergist suggested maybe acid reflux. The only time I feel this way is through June to October. This has been my worst year. Last year I only had one flare that last maybe a week. I'm on a low dose of an inhaled steroid and was on prednisone which did nothing for the pain I've been feeling. Does anyone know if allergies can trigger gerd?
Symptoms:
Worst usually at night.
Post nasal drip
Inflammed feeling in my back and from my rib cage up.
Throat feels fine
Tightness in chest and back
Shortness of breath
Seems to be at it's worse when allergens are high.

I'm going to assume allergies based on the timeframe.

Are you eating late?

Usually around 6 or 7. Go to bed at 11. I've never had heartburn. Do any of my symptoms sound like heartburn?

I have the exact same symptoms and no heartburn..my ENT scoped me and said it looked like GERD because of inflamed vocal cords and larynx...my neck pain is terrible...I am on 40 mg. of Protonix for the past two weeks and still have it--was told to add 150 mg og Zantac at night which I have done for two days..do you take Claritin or any type of allergy pill? This is baffling.

I take zyrtec, flonase, and a extremely low dose lung inhaler. Nothing helps. I would describe it more like a burning feeling and extreme chest tightness. No cough no wheezing lung sound clear and usually getting full oxygen. Does your back feel on fire as well?

I have had the burning back pain under left shoulder blade. I have had digestive issues since 2011, but this is all new with the constant mucous and throat clearing. It started with chest pains about six months ago and after cardiac tests, it was determined it wasn't my heart. I took a digestive enzyme which contained pepsin for a few weeks and developed laryngitis and congestion in my throat...I clear my throat constantly...the PPIs and ranitidine doesn't seem to help..I was scoped by my ENT but guess I need more testing...I am preparing to be on vacation for a month in the Catskills and really wanted these symptoms gone--oh well, I guess I need to count my blessings...
