Does anyone know of good protein shakes for people who deal with Gerd? I've lost dramatic weight due to my diet would like to gain about ten of my pounds back any suggestions?

Do you mean the after-surgery diet?

I don't know of any "protein shakes" I would call good, or healthful either. Read the ingredients.

Just about all those things are corn syrup, water and milk, with some vitamins and flavoring. IMO You might be better off drinking a glass of nice fresh milk and taking a small daily vitamin. We don't need more sugar. Most vitamins aren't necessary either.

Eating a good, healthful diet of real food is the best way to go. If you can't chew food, use a food processor or other machine. Beef may be a bit hard, so use chicken or something else softer. I really like ground chicken instead of beef for burgers and chili.

Cyngarcia. I agree with Alcie regarding all those ingredients in canned shakes. (We don't know if you are talking about post surgery intake.)

Our family surgeon recently said it was okay to put boiled chicken, potatoes, steamed carrots etc into blender with sufficient liquid to the consistency that you like best. It keeps in container in frig and easily available . Can be put in carry container to go, tastes so good and nutritious. Calories can be increased very easily depending on what you put in. (Doesn't always have to be sweet either). Less expensive then canned stuff and your body will appreciate it. Hope you try it. Regards

I haven't had surgery, just recently diagnosed with Gerd and have lost a lot of weight due to food elimination. I've lost about 15 pounds just excluding food. I'm a very petite woman as it is so I would like to gain back some of my weight but so hard to do so with eating all healthy foods :/ Patfill

Why did you eliminate the food? Allergies? Just wanted to lose weight?

Some people have reflux issues triggered by specific foods. Is that what you're talking about?

I dont know if I have food allergies but I'm eating healthier. I no longer eat fried food or greasy food. I cut out all junk all sweets. I cut out diary because I found it hurts my tummy. So my dishes are very clean and very organic. Doing so I just started looking weight not wanting too and now having a hard time getting that weight back.

Hi Alcie, I'm much the same and have lost too much weight from being over cautious about what I ate and making my meal size too small. I'm now eating 5-6 meals and including smoothies with a nutrition supplement in it. I cannot afford to lose any more weight!

Loucath,
I'm in the same boat. What nutritional supplement do yiu use? I'm hoping that eating my six meals a day helps me as well to gain my weight back because I look sick and my family thinks I'm starving myself lol

I use Healltheries Vitaplan Vanilla, bought it at the supermarket. I'm in New Zealand but I'm sure any grocery store or pharmacy would have something similar. It is hard to add weight when you can't eat anything fattening (sigh!)

I used a protein powder called Whey Cool..It is sugar free and is sweetened with stevia, it has whey protein but is denatured so very digestible and delicious..It literaly saved me when I had nausea for almost a year..I used very very ripe banana which I would peel and freeze before adding and you can add other fruits if you want and even some greens (like frozen spinach or kale)...Then I would add a cup or so of almond milk and blend..It tasted as good a a real milkshake and is very digestible..good luck!

Lillye,
Thank you for that! How much does it cost? I need to gain my weight back. I'm almost hitting a hundred pounds not good at all. I think I shocked my body with the change of diet :/

I'm so scared of losing more weight, too. I can't afford it. And I can't eat copious amounts (or any amount!) of ice cream anymore. ;)

I"m going to look into the 'whey cool', too...thanks for the tip.

You can buy Whey Cool online and it isn't cheap but very high quality..When I was with a friend getting treatment at Frodhart Medical Center in Milwaukee, a top cancer doctor there told me Whey Cool protein powder was considered the best on the market and it tastes great..I tried so many..I was already thin when I got sick . I was 118 pounds and 5'3"---I lost 30 pounds and was skin and bones...Truly, I thought I was dying..I gradually gained the weight back when the nausea finally subsided..I went through so much testing and I was diagnose with GERD and gastritis and mild gastroparesis...Thank God I healed. Every now and again, my digestion feels off but I am much better..I know you will enjoy the Whey Cool (vanilla) and it will really help you supplement to gin some weight..

Lillye,
I'm sorry to hear about your cancer. I also have Gastritis. I will have to give it a try. Just a little nervous of purchasing an expensive item that maybe won't agree with me. How did you heal? I feel like all this has taken over my life. I'll definitely give the shake a try because I need at least ten pounds back I'm at 108 right now but it's becUse of the diet change.
