I have been to the Dr several times in the last few months. Did the throat scope and discovered polyps and lesions on my esophagus and top of my stomach. Good news is the polyps were noncancerous. Proceeded with testing and had a test where they measured my swallow and inserted device in my esophagus to measure PH. Just got results back and they said normal PH is 7 and 14 is high. My score was a 40! I was told that a fulll Laparoscope Fundoplication was an option. The pain I have now is unbearable even with taking medication. I have surgery scheduled for 10-28-2014 but I am wondering if a change in diet is a better answer. My Dad died 2 years ago of esophageal cancer and I also worry about the damage I am doing that can't be reversed. My mind is so scattered about what is right. Maybe it's just the fear of surgery! I will continue to post my thoughts, feelings and pains as I go through this process. This site has been a great help on what to expect without all of the medical terms and dry material that is "one size fits all" information. wink

Bubbles,
What other symptoms do you have? I am 2 weeks post op and Have had no real problems. I didn't even take pain pills after the surgery. The most pain I had was the gas in my stomach. How ling before you had other problems? Most people say they can't burp and I don't have that problem. I am still on soft food but seen to be tolerating that quite well. I think I was very fortunate and had an awesome surgeon.
