Acid Reflux - 30 day fast and Yoga

I have being reading this forum a lot and have gained much from it thanks everyone and i thought it was time i put something back. I have started a journey on what i hope will be the answer for my reflux issue. It might seem a bit disjointed as i have copied form another forum i am on not related to health, so i am having to change it a bit to suit here.

I first had it about 10 years ago, it was giving me a throat that hurt to swallow, no amount of lozenges was making it go away so i went to a doctor who prescribed me Proton-pump Inhibitors which i took for about 3 days and then did some research, its wasn't the amount of acid in my stomach that was the problem, just my lower Esophagus Sphincter that wasn't closing properly... surely it i take a inhibitor to reduce stomach acid that is just going to cause more problems later on.

More research and i started taking Apple Vinegar Cider and Manuka Honey in warm water before meals, didn't eat any hard foods for a week, no chocolate ....along with many other supplements i was taking at the time .... Fixed it. Never a problem again

Then 5 years ago when i meet my thai wife and my chilli intake went up about 90 fold, along with the start of drinking coffee and a number of other bad sugary habits. Then about 6 months ago i started to notice the sore throat again, this time a little different, belching, a bit of heartburn, even a acid taste coming up.

Then 3 months after my Sons 21st i came home with a very sore throat. I took up juicing pretty much every day, but still was eating. I wasn't getting anywhere with the sore throat, and 3 weeks ago my voice even started to play up. I did loose some weight though, 5 Kg in fact.

So the last 2- 3 weeks i have spent hours and hours on the net reading about other peoples journeys with this menacing illness on the many different health forums out there. Most struggle with no cure, some have being on Proton-pump Inhibitors for 10 years and are now having all sorts of issues. I started to get a bit down to be honest, but i just kept reading.

I was fairly sure i had Slient Reflux, as i didn't have the traditional symptoms of GERD which seems to be the most common Reflux disease.

2 weeks ago I probably should have gone and had a Endoscopy or Esophageal pH Test, but ultimately i knew the outcome would be the same, prescribed inhibitors.

I didn't what to treat the effect, i knew i needed to fix the cause and then my body would eventually sort out the burnt membrane of my throat, or the damage to my vocal chords...

So last Tuesday i started my journey and applying the 3 things i choose that i was fairly sure could resolve this problem i had... I wanna keep a journal and i have given myself 30 days to start with. I will time warp the last 6 days in brief to catch up and then just add a little bit each day if i can on how i feel and how i am going.

So here we go !

Day 1

So from today i will not eat any food for 30 days. I will only drink fruit and vegetable juices.

I am setting myself a target of 30 days, i have know idea if i can reach that but i will try.
I am also going to do yoga every morning, in particular i will learn 4 different Pranayama Breathing exercises
Also a 45 minute brisk walk each morning. To do all this i need to get up a 6.00 in the morning to give me at least 2 hours to fit it all in. My first day was perfect, yoga, walked made a juice big enough for both breakfast and to take 1 liter to work for lunch, by bed time i was feeling fine and not hungry at all.

Hi sydneyreflux,

Just wanted to wish you best of luck in your 30-day challenge. I have similar symptoms to you, and extremely interested in how this turns out for you. I'm also interested in doing a juice fast with deep breathing exercises for a few days.

Anyways, rooting for you!!
