So, I had an ultrasound and HIDA Scan on my gallbladder and well, my gallbladder didn't even show up. Surgery is coming Wednesday.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had this done, especially post-Nissen. I'd love to hear about your experience.

I post this here for those that continue to have trouble pre-Nissen and post-Nissen. Check the gallbladder out sooner than I did!

I started with gallbladder issues 1.5 weeks after my NF/HH. By 2.5 months post op I was having severe attacks with daily milder attacks and multiple issue due to my gallbladder. Had it out 5 months post op. Felt better within a day. Loads better. Still have some issues but they are my original surgery. Now I'm 7.5 months post op NF/HH and 2.5 months post op gallbladder. Good luck! I'm so happy I had both done now.

I'm hoping they'll do surgery even with my throat being sore.

Thanks for sharing your story. Attacks are scary. I wonder if they said I was having esophageal spasms when they were actually gallbladder attacks.

If your throat is sore but not infected or really reddened from irritation or virus I'm sure they'll go ahead with surgery. Early on I was confused about my pain. Thought initially it was all from the ahH/NF surgery. As a bit of time passed I started to think it was gallbladder. I blamed everything pre surgery on my reflux. Once I became post op from both surgeries, I could distinguish issues due to reflux and gallbladder. But t was all hind sight. I blamed being lactose intolerant and gluten sensitive too. Then realized a lot was my poor digestion from my gallbladder. I still am lactose intolerant but not so severe. The body is a confusing but amazing thing. All the best Wed. Hope you feel a biff improvement after.

Denise and Wendy,

Based on all I've told TonyG, he feels I'll feel a ton better. I don't always feel bad, but I don't feel well often enough, you know? I have sludge and/or multiple small gallstones.

I haven't really gotten a second opinion because it's all pretty straightforward. I guess I thought about that, too. Am I doing the right thing? I simply cannot have a second gallbladder attack. It was awful!

Throat is a bit better today. I'm glad you're getting to the bottom of it, Wendy. I've had pain in my right side intermittently for a year now.

I just hope this is right.

Yes those gallbladder attacks hurt. I'd rather go through labour again daily than suffer another attack. I was terrified to take Morphine with my first attack. I do not do well on pain meds. Only let them give me 3 mg. ended up taking 20 mg to control the pain enough. I had huge attacks every couple weeks with daily smaller attacks. I was on edge constantly. Thankfully they realized the significance of all my vomiting and got my gallbladder out pretty quick. Like I said, by the day after surgery, I felt better already.

John-

Hmmm seems we discussed this a couple times, LOL!

I'm very happy to hear they figured something out. I had mine removed a year before my 1st Nissen, I sure felt a lot better once it was removed as I was having attacks lasting a day to day and a half.

Take care

Wendy,

There have been times when I'd like to vomit and really can't. It's too bad you struggle with pain medication. It's amazing. Labour pains weren't as bad? Wow.

pink,

Thanks. Now someone is being checked for Ebola in my city and I'm headed to the hospital tomorrow, granted they're in a different hospital. :(

Yes pain meds and I don't get along. They make me very sick. Between gallbladder attacks making me vomit and then meds when I had severe attacks making me vomit, it hasn't been fun. Had the pain control team after my NF/HH to find something to help me but not narcotics.

Fingers crossed you feel much better in a couple days. Then no more struggling.

Debra,

I'm pretty nervous as the Nissen recovery went so poorly. The anxiety is creeping in. I feel as if I didn't ask the surgeon enough questions, but it sounds like it's pretty difficult to screw this up. I don't know.

It sounds as if I've had it easier than you. Bless you for your resolve.

I was nervous John but nothing compared to the NF. Plus I was fed up being in pain and constant attacks. I knew the outcome was better than what I was feeling. Recovery way way easier than NF. You'll do great and you'll be thankful too. No more being in fear of an attack either. Deep breath. :-)

I fear one tonight. I'm a bit sore from minor yardwork. Last time I did that, I had one that night. I assume what I had was a gallbladder attack anyway and definitely don't want to feel it again. 14 months out, I'm still getting over the NF.
