I have no Peptests, no cameras and no monitors on me, but if I did I'm sure they would all come back positive. I woke up from a semi-dreamlike state, and caught myself burping up acid. I thought I had just dreamt it, but I can taste it and felt short of breath after - no excess saliva or lump in throat though. And now it keeps happening, even though I didn't eat any bad foods, I propped my bed head up and I've yet to eat or drink anything today.

All because I'm trying to stop the Gaviscon and lead a normal life. Yeah right... am I going to be like this for much longer, where nobody believes I'm bringing up acid? I knew I had that odd taste for a reason, now I have proved why, but without any scientific tests, it means nothing.

EDIT: I feel like I'm going to go mad; all those meds and changes just slightly masked my problems. I'll never get rid of this LPR. Powerful drugs don't work, I can't get surgery, it's not in my head. I'm screwed, aren't I? Or did something else come up that happens to taste similar? I'm desperate for it to not be reflux :(

Hi Daxter

Have they told you that you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease? Yes or NO

Did they confirm you that you have hernia hiatus as when you had done a Endoscopy!?

Have you done 24 hours ph monitoring test? If Yes than: do you have a Low Stomach Acid?

Do you have or been tested for h.pylori?

The tests say yes AND no. Peptest says yes, Restech says maybe, 24 hour pH test says no. The catch is the last one didn't record when I had the worst symptoms. Right now I have an unshakeable lump in the throat sensation, as well as constant regurgitation when I belch, shortness of breath and a sweet taste of sorts. It's horrid, and I just know all the tests would be positive if they were catching this right now.

Hi, Daxter

I am little confused, as my questions as here stated!

Have they told you that you have Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease? (Yes or NO) If you don't have, than it means you have a normal acid reflux of Low Stomach Acid, we need to determ it.

Did they confirm you that you have hernia hiatus as when you had done a Endoscopy!? Please state with question of mine and answer to other side. Yes or No

Have you done 24 hours ph monitoring test? If Yes than: do you have a Low Stomach Acid? YES OR NO.

Do you have or been tested for h.pylori? Yes or No

each questions on time please!

Not yet, but my symptoms match LPR to a tee.

None seen, but they're easily missed.

Yes, and I had a lot of gaseous reflux, but at the time I wasn't experiencing most of the symptoms I am now, so no reflux showed.

I've been off the Gaviscon Advance for a good few weeks now, but I refuse to stop the alkaline water because I just know my reflux has gotten worse. I keep getting a sweet and minty taste that dries out my throat, my throat is blocked up with mucus and soreness, and I have even become hoarse for the first time in ages. IT COULD ONLY BE LPR, BUT I CAN'T PROVE IT.

Earlier today all I ate was bread and water. I started burping up acid-tasting stuff like no tomorrow and had to keep clearing my throat of the resulting mucus. Every time I burp, I get symptoms, guaranteed. I just want this suffering to end, please-! I can't take a whole lifetime of this, I can barely last 2 years with it!!!

I wouldn't try to prove it to yourself, if your like 95% of the population you'll try to fit your symptoms to a disease. Not trying to discourage you, on the contrary I'd like to give you hope.

I have LPR diagnosed by two different Drs. I first went to an ENT in 2011 convinced that I had allergies that were giving me a sore throat, plugged ear, hoarse voice, mucus, and nasal drainage. The dr tested me for allergies twice before sending me to a gastro dr because only reflux made sense. I was given a bravo capsule that confirmed I was refluxing for hours at a time, although the PH was only slightly elevated. Since my LES was open for so long, acid was making its way to my throat. Only takes a few drops for massive amounts of discomfort. A motility test further confirmed that the LES was weak and floppy, and the diagnosis of LPR was given. I had a second dr repeat the tests because I was a skeptic.

I am telling you the story because I'm afraid you might not be going to the right specialists. I would see a gastro dr, have them do a bravo and a motility test and maybe even a camera study. Its what they are trained to do and take their medical advice. Don't self medicate!
