Hi all:

Have been having some acid and post nasal drip issues. Throat is real irritated. Went to GI doc, taking protonix in morning and nexium at night. Not helping that much. I look at my throat, looks red and raw in the back, and looks like i see a vein back there. Sometimes, feels like a lot of fluid building up in back of throat, like extra saliva.

Have been on meds for about a month. was due to see gi doc, but, missed appointment, will not see him till near Christmas. So, should i just take meds for another 30 days, or, perhaps see an ENT?

Also, if ENT wants to do tube down throat or via nose, should I freak out? Just want to heal my throat, and feel better. I do not smoke, drink alcohol, no citrus, no soda, no deep fried stuff. I do eat fast, and have a lot of stress through. I am UNDER weight, not overweight at all.

Any supplements that can heal me and get me off meds?

Appreciate all your wise comments...

thanks...

Is your stomach gurgling?

Do you have white tongue?

As you stated you are under stress, and do you have depression and anxiety?

Hello Bookread66. Welcome to our forum.

If you see an ENT, ask before appointment to see if they have the equipment that allows you to see your throat area on the screen while they do the test. It's also video recorded. The test was very easy and very short. The small tube goes in a nostril, lights the throat and shows on the screen. Then they just remove the tube. In and out and over with. It's just for a look-see. It doesn't measure anything but helps with diagnosing.

Also look up the term 'water brash' on Google. Might help to understand the saliva.

Have you tried aloe Vera juice-- the kind without citric acid. George's is one brand. Soothes the throat, esophagus, stomach.

This is only a suggestion. We are not doctors but offer suggestions that only you know if you want to try it or look into it. Wish you well soon!

Thank you all for your encouraging replies. I want to do whatever it takes to not get anywhere near considering surgery. I have not had this problem for an extremely long time. It started a bit in 2011...and then has been on an off again. I also have ankylosing spondylitis. So, I have a nice blend of problems. :)
