Hi all,
I had my surgery last Friday. I though I was well prepared for the shoulder pain, that develps from the air they pump into you. I don't think you can ever prepare for that much pain. Pain meds didn't really help with that. But that pain is just about gone. Now more chest discomfort and incision soreness, but it's manageble . Swallowing has not been an issue but still keeping to clear fluids. The surggeon did say 3 days clear,3 days full liquids then soft food, but I am listening to everyone on here who has had it and taken it slower.
I am not on meds but took myself off a couple of months before. I am not coughing and that was my main concern.
I'm typing on my phone so I am not going to put an hourly report, but feel free to ask any questions

Hi Toni-Ann,

I responded to your other post about shoulder pain. It sounds as if all is normal with your recovery. Be sure to ask any questions you might have as you heal. This recovery takes a full six months for most of the healing and a year for the rest. If you can surrender to your recovery and follow its lead, you'll find it much easier. You can't rush healing as much as you'd like to!

Here's a link to my early recovery journal, in case you haven't run across it:
It might answer a few of your questions. Good luck with your recovery!

Happy healing!
