Welcome to the forum, ozarker.
I had a small bowel resection a few days after getting a colostomy and having some infection that spread. However, I did not have any gastritis caused by the surgery. I was pretty miserable though.
I don't know how much of my small intestine had to be cut out, only that it was 2 pieces. If they took a whole lot of yours, I suppose it could affect your digestion.
Have you had any tests to check for ulcers or hiatal hernia? What sort of doctor are you seeing? Gastroenterologist?
First, I'd not try to "get through" to my doctor. I'd be as nice as pie and innocently ask the doctor what's causing the gastritis, and certainly NOT try to insist it is from the resection. I would also ask if there any tests that would show what's going on.
