Hi all, I am new here- really hoping some of you may be able to shed light on what is going on with me. My doctors seem to have no clue/do not care. Here is the back story. I am 25, athlete, with no family history of gerd or any gastro issues. I woke up one day 8 months ago, having never experienced reflux before, with insane amounts of burping, reflux, and back pressure. It did not go away- it was all day, every day. I went to the doc and he said to chane my diet and sleep On a wedge. I did, but it didn't help. The pressure for so bad I couldn't breathe or sleep on my back or side. I went to the er and they said I likely had costochondritis and reflux. They offered no treatment. I tried eliminating acidic foods, fatty foods, alcohol, caffeine, fructose, gluten, corn, and even soy. Still I kept burping and refluxing every day. There seemed to be no trigger at all. They finally did an endoscopy and said I had h pylori. I took the mess to eradicate it but I had no change in symptoms. I then tried increasing my stomach acid, eating fermented foods, taking digestive enzymes, and getting off of the ppis. I got to a point where I was only having a reflux episode once a day and only one terrible episode every 4 days or so. Then I had the glorious week and half of no symptoms at all. All of a sudden my throat started hurting. It continued to hurt all day everyday for 2 months until my entire neck started to spasm. I went back on the ppis which took the edge off but it has been three months on them and my throat still feels burnt and terrible. It has been 8 months since all of this started. What in the world is going on? Why do doctors not think this is a big deal? Why is my throat not healing? Has anyone experienced anything like this? I feel like I am too young/healthy to have this be a lifestyle issue causing it.
