o.k.  i have been using nexium reluctantly for about a month....no heartburn at all but still a little of the other symptoms.  last night i ate a turkey recipe i have that makes a gravy out of half and half and cream of mushroom soup.....it is really good but it is dairy...now today i feel like i am gravitating back to how i used to feel.....did the dairy products cause this flare-up?   i know dairy is carbs but i also eat other stuff like biscuits and don't get this reaction.....could being lactose intolerant manifest as gerd?  thanks for any input.

yes, I'm sure that it could and it's good that you've identified this as your problem.Try illiminating dairy for a month and see how you feel.

take care

Hi Hearty,

I have a big problem with diary products;mainly milk & ice cream.  I have been using Lactaid Milk lately w/great results.  Oh, I really miss ice cream, but it bothers me awfully bad.  I have soy ice cream in the freezer, but it's not the same.... mad

I get really bad cramps followed by a quick intense trip to the loo after I eat lots of yogurt or ice cream. I have learned to enjoy these foods by the spoonful instead of bowl.  I guess the gravy I made was just to rich and I ate too much?  I also seem to feel worse if I eat something really high carb like pancakes and syrup.  My husband is a type one diabetic and has to religiously count carbs.  He only eats 45 per meal.  So I certainly know all about low carb stuff.  I am a high carb eater but am thinking I need to change my ways.  I am on 40 mg Nexium and the heartburn is gone.  That is a huge blessing.  But these other symptoms are no fun and I do not want them flaring up.  Thank you all for your replys.  This site has helped me so much.  Mostly just knowing I am not the only one.  And I see that a lot of you have it worse than me and that really causes me to put my junk in perspective.
