about 3 yrs. ago I had a endoscope done.  Found out there was food still in my stomach also had alot of imflammation in stomach.  The Dr. put me on Reglan that helped unfortunately my Protalin went up & I can't take it anymore.
I also have Fibromyalgia take Paxil & Elivil for it.
I take Prevacid 30mg in morning 15mg at night.
I tried the Carb diet lost alot of weight.  The acid reflux was a little better. The Carb diet made me to Constipated.
I have hungry feelings 10 mins after eating.  Have had this for 5 yrs.  Had my thyroid, hormones, low blood sugar tested all ok.  I am suppose to have a colonscopy but afraid I won't be able to stand not eating.
I saw the endo dr. again last week, he wants me to have a Esophageal Manometry & 24-hr. pH Monitor done told me not to eat 4 hrs. before I know I won't be able to wait that long without food.   I get all shaky very sick feeling.
I have had Burning mouth since May of 1991.  It was only my mouth now it's my throat & nose that burns too.
I have allergeries too.  Can't eat fruits like blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, Chocolate, shell fish, bananas, soy, yogurt, tomatoes-even before the acid, nuts, sugar the list goes on.......
If you could please help me at all, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

Hello Barney,
Welcome to the Forum! I'm am sorry you are having a rough time right now.

Have you discussed your food intake & lack of food with your dr? Just wondering if your dr had any positive suggestions for you.

I have never had an Esophageal Manometry, 24 hr PH Monitor or Colonoscopy, but other members will come along, hopefully, they will have some answers for you.

I was dx w/Fibro July 2005, which has been life changing. GERD is no picnic either, with the limited food choices we have, and like you, on top of food allergies. I sometimes experience a dizzy overwhelming sick feeling, almost faint like when food intake is prolonged outside of regular scheduled meals which is usually every 3-4 hrs. It also makes me a little uneasy when exams are scheduled and NPO after midnight is ordered. The mere thought makes me quite hungry knowing I can't eat anything. I pray that the test is scheduled as early as possible & have had to re-schedule some test on my own as a result of the time involved.

I hope you're able to get through the test in order to allow dr to find answers. Hopefully, you will get proper treatment and you start to feel better soon.

Please keep us posted, maybe, come over to the Fibro Forum and share stories when you're up to it.

Best wishes!

HI and welcome barney,

Geez you sure have a lot going on there. Some of the conditions/treatments etc you mentioned such as burning mouht, I have never even heard of. I'm trying the low carb diet now (although I've taylored it to my own liking) and am seeing wonderful results. I drink lots of water. It's only been one week. I can be slow at times, so when I read your post I wasn't positive on what you are asking help for. I think it was with regards to the GERD? The only thing I can think of that may be helpful advice is to see your doctor about trying a new medication for it. Maybe you can write down all your thoughts and concerns as well as the meds your are taking...don't forget the problems with lack of food before you go see your doc. Then you'll have something to present him with (grouping all the conditions and concerns) and nothing will be left out. I have no idea what a Manetory is. As far as the endoscopy, I wonder if you can tell whomever is booking the appointment about your condition with food, as ask that the test be done as early as possible in the am, then you could have someone drive you to the hospital...that should make it easier for you. Maybe a similar approach can be taken for the manetory. I think what you need most is a concrete diagnosis so you can then concentrate on treatment. Maybe you can ask you doctor about seeing a dietician to help with your diet since you have so many allergies and since food plays such a big role in your ability to function. I wish you the best of luck. Keep us posted.

I never connected the weird feeling I get when I go too long without food to the gerd. Sometimes I just have to have a swallow of two of pepsi or eat something really sweet to get over it. How is it connected to the Gerd?

Hi Barney,
Here is a link for you.

Hearty, I'm not sure how the lack of food intake is connected to GERD. Sometimes, i'm just like you w/the feeling of low sugar and need something really sweet if food isn't available. I had my blood checked for diabetes a couple of times and all was fine. I thought at one time it was associated with not usually drinking anything outside of water and lack of most natural fruits, therefore, the body craves sugar. Puzzling.......

Hi Barney and Welcome to HealingWell! tongue

I was just wondering from some of your symptoms about Diabetes, then I read where you had that checked.  May I ask what test they did for that?  Was it the A1C test?  That particular test checks for sugar damaged red blood cells and is a very accurate test - ask you Dr. about this.

The 'Burning Mouth Syndrome' can be brought on by diabetes II, chronic anxiety and/or depression.

Perhaps you could explain this anxiety about not eating to your Dr. and they can prescribe something that could make you feel better about this test.

I wish I could offer you more ideas, but along with the others terrific ideas, maybe we gave you enough to go back to your Dr. and ask more questions?! :)

Best wishes to you!

Hugs, Teri tongue

Thank you all for the advise. I have been to a Dietician she gave me some pointer's. I have not been to a Endocrinologist but want to go to one. I know when I get this hungry feeling protein is the best for me.

I don't know if I was given the A1c test or not will check.

I have asked the Dr. if the hungry feeling is related to the Gerd & he said it could be but not the shaky feeling. He wants me to have the surgery for the Gerd but I have heard some bad things about that...not being able to burp, vomiting, having to chew thoroughly before swollening. And my big question is what if I am still have the hungry feeling & can't eat hardly? I have alot to think about.

I wish you all the best of luck with your Gerd.

Take care, Debbie

Sorry that so many foods give you allergies. How were your allergies diagnosed?
