Hi everyone. I am brand new to this forum. I guess I'm feeling like I need a community right now.
The other day my pcp diagnosed me (she based it on symptoms) with acid reflux and gave me prilosec. She did run a few blood panels and I did that breathe in a bag H pylori thing - tests came back negative.
Anyways, these last few weeks I have been experiencing [what she believes is] acid, except I don't have hardly any chest pain or heartburn. I experience everything in my middle and upper back. I absolutely do get the acid burps in my mouth and I think that's what convinced her my symptoms were acid reflux. She said that I definitely could get the pain in my back. But as I read the forum comments it sounds like most gerd/LPR sufferers are skeptical. Incidentally, heartburn/chest pain isn't foreign to me,I had it pretty bad during pregnancy, and I've experienced it other times as well.
Anyways, I'm not happy about
symptom based diagnostics even from doctors. And of course, like many of you, without proper test I'm very scared of the possibilities -THE BIG "C", etc.. I guess I'm looking for others who might have the same experience and symptoms.
-The first thing that I noticed that concerned me was the globus sensation that felt phlegmy and wet.
-In the morning I have horrible clear/thick throat mucus/phlegm.
-center-middle back pain that travels a bit upward and definitely worsens after eating. I've noticed if I eat poorly (which I often do) that pain is pretty unrelenting - like all day unrelenting.
-trouble swallowing; is a hard one for me to tell, part of me thinks its hypersensitivity from anxiety, but i feel like everything moves sort of slow. A few times something has "refluxed" back. Can someone describe to me what they experience?
- The back pain does come and go! I think that's positive, right!?
-lots of burping
-when i lay down or bend over acid in the mouth.
-occasional ear pain
That's all I can really think of right now. I feel there has already been improvements after going on prilosec, which has only been a few days now. So that's good, right?
To make matters worst, i'm in the middle of moving to a different state and I don't have continuity with drs right now. I think I'm making an appt with a GI in my new town soon.
