Hi all, I just wanted to give a 4-week update on my Nissen redo to a 270.
The good news: I feel GREAT. No pain at incisions or at wrap site. More importantly, I've experienced ZERO reflux or heartburn issues even when eating my trigger, ultra spicy foods. I've moved on to eating essentially everything, I just have to chew very well and eat slowly. I've also started working out again with no issues (no weights or pushups for another 4 weeks).
The neutral news: I still can't burp at all, which was expected and I'm fine with. Simethicon is my friend. Sometimes when I'm hungry I forget to chew well or eat larger bites than I should and it gets stuck at the wrap point but I know that's my fault. I do still get full VERY quickly; volume per meal is about one cup max. If I eat more than that I'm uncomfortable for quite a few hours after; not in a heartburn-y way but a 3rd-helping-on-Thanksgiving way.
The bad (-ish) news: All that air I can't burp up has to escape somehow. I've never been so gassy in my life. I also find when I need to have a BM, I need to have one RIGHT THEN, and it's a couple times a day. I don't think it's dumping syndrome, just readjustments taking place. Hopefully it doesn't last forever.
Overall, I'm SO happy with having my wrap done. I sleep better, I don't suffer all day long from stomach pain/reflux, no more daily meds. Please feel free to ask any questions!
