Hello ! I'm new to this site and really appreciate being able to read advice and tips from all of you! I've had reflux/Gerd a few times in my life but had success with medication. But I hate going with the meds because I don't want to become dependent. Also this time I'm having a problem with meds not helping much, so I've been trying some natural things also.
But one of my concerns is when I smell an odor whether it's food or chemical it really bothers me, it gives me the feeling of pain in my chest & breathlessness. But it does subside, but it is strange. I do not have asthma, but have read about
it happening in conjunction with reflux. Just wondering if any of you have experienced anything similar?
Also, it's getting to be everything that I eat causing acid. After reading others post I will start a food diary . Starting to get that stuck in throat feeling with bland foods that didn't bother me before. Just diagnosed about
two months ago & im really stressing out. Sorry for rambling but as all of you know this is so discouraging & depressing. I've read so much & watched a lot of YouTube videos...there are so many rules , it's overwhelming & sometimes confusing.
My upper gi showed reflu but no damage.
I think I need to get checked for low acid....is there a test?
Has anyone else gone the natural route? What do you like? I'm taking probiotics & enzymes, dgl & baking soda diluted in water. I really don't want to depend on meds.
The only way i have strayed from the list of no no's is by drinking a little iced tea which is my only vice, but I've only done this about
5 times in 2 months, but maybe that's enough for my setbacks... but I'm done with the iced tea now, it's actually like drinking fire water now. Too much consumption of tea & spicy foods got me into this mess , and I could stand to lose 30lbs.
Thanks for your time!
