Hi Guys I'm new here and just posting as a little lost as to whether all i'm experiencing following my wrap is ok and to be expected. I had my op 19 days ago and had a severe chest infection which kept me in hospital for 8 days. I'm eating fluids only but have what feels like idigestion constantly at the top of my chest and throat. I've also got a raw mouth so all things seem to sting my tongue. Stitches seem to be healing well and i only have one stomach part which feels sore as heck. My main problem is the idigestion feeling of food being stuck there although im not eating food as such only pureed or seived as my doctor instructed. Any replies will be most welcome. Thanking you in advance. Poppy

Thanks aero1 for your reply. My wrap has slipped and my stomach is again going into my chest cavity and food is getting stuck in the oesophagus and not going through to the stomach as it should (shown up by barium x ray) Ive been coughing cant lay down upchucking at night involuntarily just like a pump and feel lousy. Waiting to see new surgeon in different hospital. What struggles have you been having?

mental ones, trying to get past the cant vomit issue. on the physical side, my stomach is a constant issue, has never quite recovered. seeing the gsatro doc Tuesday, for the first time. still a little dysphagia, as well. my condition came at me out of nowhere, i was a 53 year old, extremely athletic. so when about
1/3 of my stomach, decided to head north and stay there, i had little warning, as to what a life changer this was. so it has been hard, to get used to the new normal. one day at a time. so sorry, you have to face this again. this is something you dont want make a profession out of. i hope, all works out for you.

I've been upchucking its just like a pump and comes from nowhere i wonder if this is the new vomit or my particular problem due to food getting stuck in the oesophagus?! Not being able to burp is one of my upsets, i often sooo want to but just can't. Not looking forward to any of it all over again but i cant stay like this so like you say one day at a time......

I had my Nissen August 2015. I have vomited more this year than I ever have. I get very little notice. I have gotten good at grabbing a trash can. My reflux has returned. To think I went through this surgery and I am worse now. It's frustrating.

does anyone have a good outcome with this fundoplication surgery or is everyone that has it worse off after it's been done than they were before having it done?

Just saw your post, poppy did you get a 2nd nissen done, if so how are you doing. Man this is a hard surgery to recoup from, and to go what you have gone through praying for you. Just feel so bad for you. I had mine done a little over 2 months ago and struggling with issues related to the surgery.

Hi, I haven't been on here for a while and thought I had better come on and give a positive story. When I was originally on this forum during my post nissen surgery I was very despondent and negative.
I had the surgery done for LPR which is the problem that has the least positive outcomes from this surgery.
At times I felt like things had gone backwards and I even sometimes had worse symptoms after the surgery.
I was told that the only people that stick with the forum are those who are having issues and that those who get better just get on with their lives - that is exactly what happened with me.
So I am jumping back on here to just give you all some hope - I am cured but it took ages!
I had my surgery in June 2014 and it took 18 months to come right - when LPR symptoms stopped.
I am now almost 2.5 years out and still have the occasional Vagus nerve issue but that probably once a month now.
During my healing I still had symptoms and even once when I tried to start training again (cycling), I had acid come out of my nose worse than I had ever had before.
There were times when I felt I had done the wrong thing but now that time has passed, I couldn't be happier and better than I have been in 20 years!

Good for you Thunder. As others long term posters know, that it takes your body a long time to adapt and heal. I am almost a year and half and it took awhile for things to settle down. What was the symptoms caused by the Vagus nerve issue? What did you take, if anything, to deal with that? Zofran? Thanks. -JR
