I was never able to get complete relief with diet and lifestyle changes alone, as my problem was a faulty LES, which is why I opted for a surgical intervention.
However, putting a wedge under my entire mattress helped. Also, I followed the food plan in a book called "Dropping Acid" , which also helped. You can find the food list for free online.
I too tried low carb, but it didn't help me. A whole foods diet without a lot of preservatives was helpful. I had to cut out alcohol, citrus, spicy food, fatty/greasy food, chocolate, and raw onions. You might be fine with some of those - differs for everyone.
If some of this is triggered by anxiety, I would take up yoga or meditation.
