Hi All

Normally i am on the lupus forum and recently have been on the cardio forum, now its YOUR turn.   tongue

i have Laryngeal Esophogeal Reflux Disease.  Its GERD except it reaches my larynx and has caused some damage to it.  I have multiple med allergies and can currently take no form of antacid.  this includes anything from rolaids to tagamet.  basically, i cant take ANYTHING synthetic.

Does anyone here have any NATURAL methods of easing GERD?  I have tried baking soda and water and it causes itching and swelling in my mouth so if you know of anything else i could try, i would greatly appreciate your sharing it with me.  :-)

Thanks so much for your time

Cheryl

Cheryl, some people believe honey, red delicious apples, and apple cider vinegar are good natural treatments for GERD.  The honey protects the throat and esophagus.  Be careful with the ACV, though.  It works well for some and for some it causes more burn.  You mix 1 tablespoon in a cup of warm water and honey.

A good naturopath would probably prescribe one or more of the following:

Rhizinate (to protect stomach lining),

Licorice extract,

Acidophilus (priobitic to promote good gut bacteria),

Some form of digestive enzyme.

These are just suggestions, and not intended to replace the advice of your M.D.  Are there any naturopaths in your area who might be able to help?  These docs specifically try to find non-synthetic alternatives to treat a patient's condition.

Laura

I've been looking for one, but as of yet, no luck. my docs are giving me nothing right now. its either eat rice or burn your gut. those are my choices. thanks for your help. :)
