Hello, I wanted to write a post in regards to scleroderma and GERD. I have a partial fundoplication scheduled for October 11th. The reason I am getting a partial wrap is my scleroderma has caused my muscle function in my esophagus is non existent. If I got a full wrap it would be unable to push food down.
My surgeon has reassured me she's done a lot of surgeries with patients who have scleroderma. She also thinks I will be at 75% better after the surgery taking only 1 zantac per day.
I have had severe symptoms for about
10 years now and I am on Nexium 40 mg 2 x per day and I also take zantac.
I am nervous about
weight loss because I currently weigh 121 lbs and I am 5'3". I have heard people lose a lot within the month after surgery.
Other than that I am excited about
the possibility for having a new life where I might be able to eat dinner after 5pm without fearing my night.
After my surgery I will post my experience because I have looked to find others with scleroderma and their experience but couldn't find any.
