I was born with Esophageal Atresia and had 8 cm gap in my esophagus when I was just taken out of the womb . I went through a surgery at 10 months old to reconnect both ends of the esophagus.
I started to experience frequent nausea about
every week since I was about
3 years old until now. Each time the symptom came, I must stay in bed for a whole day as I feel very weak and have almost no appetite to eat or drink. I also vomit a lot during this period and most of my vomit contents' is my saliva because its' production increases a lot at the time I'm sick. During this period, my body feel hotter than usual and my sense of sight and smell become more sensitive as well. I prefer to stay at cold and dark places as my eyes can't tolerate bright light and my nausea worsens every time I smell a strong scent. I often fart during this period as well and it's more smelly compared to the time I feel normal.
My parents and I had gone to many doctors and tried numerous medications, but to no avail.
I have gone through endoscopy and this is my doctor's findings:
1. My esophagus is very short (about
5 inches in length) and the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) cannot function at all.
2. No H. plory is detected in my stomach
3. The organ positions of from esophagus-stomach-duodenum resemble a straight line
I'm 20 years old now and I'm worried about
my career after graduated from university if this problem doesn't get resolved in the near future.
Does anyone here had undergo another surgery after your esophagus got reconnected?
Any advice will be helpful. Thanks you..
