I'm not sure exactly what's going on.  I've had stomach/probably ulcer issues off and on for years.  I'm sure I've sent some big wig at the company that makes Rolaids on many a tropical vacation on my business alone.  It's one of my food groups. lol
This is something a little different that started a couple of weeks ago with what I thought was a mild stomach virus.  Maybe not though.
I'm dealing with alot of stomach upsets, I don't have good eating habits though.  One day I over eat the next I may not eat at all and live solely on coffee.  Yeah, I know I'm asking for trouble.  This starts off feeling like I need to eat, but gets worse when I do.  I've got a nasty "vomit" taste in my mouth like stomach acid, a little burning in my throat, (but I may be imagining that) and a sore throat that is worse in the evening.  The worst part of this is the continual feeling like I've got something stuck in my throat.  I clear it and clear it to no avail.  And I don't know if this is related or not but I feel wheezy, like I'm getting a chest cold.  (I really may be)  Any input would be appreciated.  I'm not really freaking out on this yet but I am getting a little annoyed.  It doesn't make sense to me because I have little to no nocturnal heartburn.  I just feel like my stomach is upset all night.
Thanks all
Ellie

Sounds to me like Hitial Hernia.
I'm guessing the "feeling like I've got something stuck in my throat" is after drinking coffee?
Did you see your doctor abt this? What did he say?

You know, come to think of it, this got worse a couple of weeks ago with the virus, but we had a terrible stomach flu right after thanksgiving. So severe that I strained my back with 8 hours of dry heaves and didn't recover (back wise) until very recently. I wonder if I did something to my stomach with all that straining as well. I never really felt right after that. Not sick, just not right.
Coffee does bother me but I'm a hopeless addict and end up drinking my pot of coffee with a roll of rolaids. Looks like it's about to end though. This fullness in my throat is just driving me crazy. If I were to burp (gross alert) Id probably vomit. It feels like its all right there at the base of my throat all the time.
I haven't been to the Dr. about this yet. Guess I can try getting rid of my caffine first. Oh boy, this may get ugly.
Thanks aeis
Hope you have a good day

Ellie, I love coffee too.  I still drink it in spite of the GERD, although not nearly as much.

I am concerned about the icky taste in your mouth and throat symptoms.  These are common signs of GERD.  However, in a way it's good (!) to hear that you had a stomach bug, b/c this may indicate it's something else (gastritis, lingering viral infection that can be treated with antibiotics, etc).  GERD is not fun and it's often long term.

Why don't you try limiting yourself to 1-2 cups of coffee per day while you schedule and appointment with your doctor?  The symptoms you describe sound serious enough to seek medical advice and treatment.  Don't freak; but, yes, please do see an M.D.  Hey, that's why you have health insurance, right?  To use it when you don't feel well.

Best,

Laura

Thanks Laura,
Yes, I am going to make an appointment. I've recently been on antibiotics and thought it may have been aggravating the situation. It does seem like there has been one stomach virus after another this year. We've all had it twice, until today though, my six year old had only had it once, he spent the day vomiting and finally managed to keep some soup down tonight.
Oh goody, maybe I'll get it again. Good grief, it just never ends.

I am a coffee addict also- but I suffer when I drink it. What I have started doing is drinking 2 cups of 1/2 strength coffee in the morning ( an hour after my Nexium ). Just dilute each cup with hot water- because I just feel like I NEED 2 cups in the morning. The the rest of the day I just drink water. I USED to be a Diet Coke addict-- but anymore- just looking at a Coke makes me hurt.
