Ive recently been diagnosed with LPR reflux and i am having problems with my voice. Once you get the reflux under control does your voice come back? Its horrible not being able to talk.

Im guessing no one else has ever had this problem. Looking on the internet it shows that this is quite common. My voice is not completely gone but its hoarse all the time and sounds forced. I dont sound like me anymore and its very concerning.

You are not alone. I suffered for many years with periodic episodes where I would totally lose my voice due to LPR reflux. My voice would come back, but then I would lose it again. You have to treat the LPR reflux aggressively. I found that the UK version of Gaviscon, which contains alginate as a primary ingredient, was especially helpful. But this was just one of many treatments I used concurrently. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck.

Heartburn harry how long would you use your voice for, hours, days? My voice simetimes is decent ( not normal) some of the day, then hoarse, and if i use it for more than like 5 minutes straight i lose it. This has been going oj for like 4 or 5 days already.

Hi Impala,
If your hoarseness is caused by LPR/reflux, it will respond positively to Nissen surgery. I remember my surgeon commenting on how much better my voice sounded after my surgery.
Good luck in your search for answers!
Take care,
