This is a great forum, I found a lot of information in here that the doctors won’t tell us. Researching deeper of what is discussed here confirms problems with doctors ignoring the true issue other than a high acid in the stomach.
I have a Globus Sensation on and off for almost nine months. I am desperately looking for a good doctor that would not make an experiment rabbit out of me with the PPI’s elimination process in the central Indiana.
My symptoms: I lost already forty pounds because I can’t eat or drink more than one cup of food or liquids - I get a Globus Sensation. I tested different foods; only synthetic citric acid gives me heartburn. I don’t feel a pain or a pressure while talking o eating at all, nor have I difficulty swallowing.
It started with three weeks having a reflux (not daily) from eating four days many times a day home fried chicken. I cook from scratch for 40 years – it was not a problem of unsafe chicken, but I overate myself for the first time in my life. This was after a Keto diet switching to sugar and flour food in holidays.
I ended up with a bulged stomach and pain in my upper abdominal which lasted for 2-1/2 months.
I fixed the reflux with a strict diet of homegrown Aloe Vera first thing in the morning, herbal teas, shredded Jonathan apples… NO coffee, chocolate, alcohol, mint-based herbs and products, citric fruits… I chew the food thoroughly; I am sleeping with elevated upper body and not eating 2-3 hours before bedtime since my problem started.
Before this I noticed a discomfort in my stomach after drinking coffee with milk the first thing in the morning and in lunch time for months – eating in the afternoon (I know, it was a mistake). I don’t eat out and I’m trying to eat healthy as far as I remember. I don’t smoke and don’t drink alcohol or carbonated drinks.
My thyroid is good, the blood tests and ultrasound confirm it.
I wonder if it was a pepsin reflux instead of an acid reflux due to the high content of the meat. I eat meat, cheese, eggs, seeds and nuts basically daily for couple of years now.
I have a history of vomiting due to one kidney damage as a little child. A vomiting from not eating right-away as I woke up in the morning continued till my menopause. I have also stress and depression history for almost thirty years. And I have about
10-15 years dry cough that lasts for days or weeks with breaks of days, or weeks, or months without an pattern. Eating raw Sauerkrat from store irritated my throat and I always started coughing again, which lasts as above mentioned.
I was told I might have a Hiatal Hernia three months in the problem and started doing H.H. warm water drops exercise, a H.H. self massage, deep breathing, stretching on my neck… This eliminated the bulged stomach and the painful upper abdominal. But not much change to the Globus Sensation. I might even have LPR or damaged vagus nerve, who knows without some tests that I can't get done by our local doctors.
I suspect there is something wrong with my LES because I have only issues if I eat or drink more than one cup, or if I forget to chew the food well.
My family doctor as well as the GI doctor want to put me on a PPI even though I said I don’t want to go that route. They won’t order tests to find out my stomach acid levels or an endoscopy or ultrasound to see if my esophagus or sphincters are damaged or inflamed due to the three weeks reflux and previous vomiting history. I am told it is possible I have above mentioned, but to try PPI if it helps.
What kind of a medical care is this in the 21st century? I am paying for everything due to $5000 yearly deductible from my health insurance (what a “great” insurance if I can call it an insurance) and I still can’t get the testing done. The Pharmaceutical companies and so called Insurances did great damage to the medical system and the doctors seem to be afraid to go another route than to prescribe PPI’s.
Or what is the reason? Ignorance? Are they scared not to follow the insurance and pharmaceutical protocols?
With that, could someone PLEASE share if they have a good doctor that actually will do what is the right thing to do instead of pushing PPI’s on people if they don’t even know what their medical status is?
