Honestly, the first thing you need to do is get your anxiety under control, through either therapy or medication. This may actually help with your GERD symptoms which can either cause/or make your symptoms seem worse. Not all hernias need surgery, some people live their whole lives with hernias that they are unaware that they have. IMO, surgery should be as a last resort and certainly not something you should consider after six months of symptoms. It is major abdominal surgery and comes with a somewhat difficult and lengthy recovery process. GERD and LPR symptoms are something that simply don't go away overnight. I would spend your time concentrating more on following a strict GERD-friendly diet, and keeping a food diary to try and pinpoint possible triggers. Another suggestion would be to not self-diagnose using Dr. Google, there is a lot of mis-information out there.
