started losing my voice at work about 4 months ago. have an annual cold virus that breaks out with a sore and thought it was linked to that. But my voice not recovering and the pain stopped being covered by my over the counter pain killers like iboprufen and parcetomol. struggling to swallow sometimes and the feeling that I have a feather stuck at the back of my throat . drives me insane . hot localised pain and a feeling of fullness in my ear on the same side as my throat feather (rights side) occasional lymph tenderness but comes and goes as does the burning. Gaviscon absolute the last few days has eased my pain and anxiety and helped me sleep better. am hoping I am on the right path but having read up on LPR this could just be the start? any advice much appreciated.

At this point, it could be anything. I would start following a GERD-friendly diet, and try keeping a food diary to pinpoint your potential food triggers. You could take something like Pepcid at bedtime, to see if that gives you any relief. Instead of going on the internet and trying to self diagnose (there is a lot of misinformation out there), I would schedule an appointment with your doctor.

face to face is hard due to covid and how busy they are and they put it down to laryngitis. ENT guy says he cant see anything sinister but sometimes the pain is grim. awaiting a ct scan and erstwhile I will take your advice and look at diet.

thank you.

I've been able to see all of my doctors face-to-face, there's only so much they can do on a video conference. I would suggest an endoscopy before a CT scan, to be done by a gastro doctor. Ibuprofen wreaks havoc on your stomach, so I would limit what you take or try Tylenol.

Thanks . At times it’s been like razors in my throat but since I’ve been using gaviscon and paracetamol the pain is minimal . Will look into Tynelol - ta
