Wondering if anyone has seen, or tried, this hiatal hernia "treatment"? I hesitate to call it treatment, but I don't know what else to call it. I've also seen it called the "warm water fix". It's supposed to help the hernia move back down past the diaphragm somewhat. Here it is:

First thing in the morning, you drink a glass or bottle of water. Then, raise up on your tip toes and drop down quickly onto your heels/feet. You do this 10 times give or take. Then, raise your arms over your head and take short quick breaths for 15 seconds or so. Theoretically/supposedly the weight of the water might help push the stomach back down.

I've seen this method mentioned online on a whole bunch of sites. Dr Jockers is one of them...and like I said, I'm wondering if there's any validity to it, or if anyone has tried it? I certainly know to take anything seen online with a grain of salt, but it's an interesting theory.

All I'm asking is...if anyone has heard of this or tried it...that's all.

that won't help.

A hernia develops when there's no space in your abdomen for your stomach (obesity for example), or when there's a structural issue with the hiatus. if the water does bring the stomach down, it will go back up soon after.

anyway I doubt the acid rebound has anything to do with hiatus hernia. hernia does not cause any symptoms when small. It's only large hernia that needs fixing or when there's risk of strangulation.

You need to be careful of what you read on the internet. Most of these "treatments" don't work and some can cause more harm than good. WJF is correct, when the hiatal hernia is small it doesn't cause symptoms and most people never know that they have one. If you carefully weaned yourself off of your H2 block, you shouldn't experience acid rebound. You might just be experiencing what your acid reflux is like without medication. You should concentrate more on your acid free diet and keeping a food diary to try and pinpoint your potential trigger foods. You might want to go back to taking something like Pepcid at bedtime to see if that gives you relief.
