I posted before that almost 2 weeks ago, I got a sore throat. Coronavirus PCR was negative. Saw an ENT doctor and he said I have severe inflammation in my throat and prescribed an antibiotic. My GI approved of the antibiotic and mentioned that the inflammation could be partly caused by an infection + GERD. I have been taking the antibiotic for 4 days now (the round is for 7 days) and do sometimes especially after lunch and in the morning have a sore throat and I can feel I have reflux although I take a double dose of Nexium 40. My question is how can I tell whether the soreness is still there because of the infection or GERD? I’m a Crohn’s patient and was supposed to take my Remicade infusion yesterday but it was postponed for a week or it could be even extended until the infection is cleared. Given that I still have a sore throat even after taking the antibiotic, how can I decide?

It seems to me that the Dr can take a throat culture. It will either show up as an infection or not.
