I've had ongoing intermittent upper abdominal pain for years however since September it's been constant, sometimes more severe and with nausea. Docs initially thought gallstones but ultrasound & MRCP were both clear and now they have suggested Sphincter of Oddi. I haven’t had my gallbladder removed. I've listed my symptoms below:
Pain in middle of abdomen above belly button but below sternum - constant and doesn't seem to change after eating food (for last 2 months the pain gets worse during night)
nausea - almost constant now
fatigue
dry and burning mouth
itchy feet and side during night
periods of overheating mostly at night
hair loss
abdomen swells sometimes and feels full of liquid sloshing around

Have had elevated liver enzymes in blood tests, levels fluctuate corresponding to the amount of pain I'm in.

Does anyone with SOD have these symptoms as they don’t all fit with what I’ve read online? Would be grateful for any feedback from anyone who has this.

This is something that I've never heard of - hopefully someone will come along and share their experiences. I have to note that the Forum traffic is almost non-existant and you may not get any responses.

Have you had an endoscopy or any other tests done?

Thanks for your reply Sharon. I had an endoscopy, ultrasound, MRCP and all were clear. The only actual evidence that something is wrong is my elevated liver enzymes. I’m just really keen to get feedback from someone with this as I don’t think my symptoms all fit (especially since I still have my gallbladder) but my doc is suggesting that’s what it is. But that’s possibly just cos he has no idea what else it can be. I’m just so tired of feeling sick and in pain every day😟

Without a definitive diagnosis, I would seek a second opinion. Honestly, I don't think you are going to get any responses on this Forum. I've had elevated liver enzymes in the past, and they can be caused by something as simple as overuse of Tylenol products to celiac disease as well as mono.
