Hi everyone,

History:

Had slight itchy sensations in and around my chest from time to time about a year ago..
then I had wierd sensations around my stomach area, like I had done situps 2 days ago
and was little sore (not sore to the touch though.. just the sensation)

then around Jan of this year I started having pain! like I was being stabbed in the chestbone.
Then I had a little pin prick just to the right of my sternum that was constant...
then...I woke up one night with acid in my mouth.
then I had some cold sores inside my mouth..
then I would sneeze like crazy..
then one day I started coughing allot.. and I coughed more and more.. then I had perpetual
heart burn.

I am on Prilosec since end of January and things seem much better.. but it's still kind of there..
Now I am back to the little pin pricks here and there... anywhere on my whole chest or gut area..

I am eating yogurt, taking digetsive enzymes, have my bed up and everything else

I have to say that sipping coke really helps it out ALLOT
Apple cider vinegar helps a bit too..

Just interested....anyone ever get the PILL CAM Done?

I have had a capsule endoscopy. It is the one used to investigate primarily the small bowel. I have not had the one recently introduced that looks at the stomach and I think perhaps the esophagus. For that I had a traditional upper endoscopy. Have they suggested you need a capsule endoscopy?

No,

I was wondering if anyone out there had one done for Heartburn.

I have read a couple of interent articles, that say that the Pill CAM
is very good at this kind of thing... they are finding that it's just as good
for diagnosing problems in the esoph. accept if they see something
then you have to do the regular one.

I was wondering if anyone new of a doctor that does it...
and what there experiences were.

They do the upper ones to detect esophagel and stomach problems. If a person is having heartburn, depending on severity, frequency and duration of symptoms, the GI might order an upper endoscopy to examine if there is damage in the esophagus from the reflux, and it there are structural problems causing the reflux. Whether they would order the new pill cam for that, I don't know. I know that my GI wanted to do the typical upper endoscopy so he could take biopsies if he saw irregularities. As it turned out, I did need biopsies.

Well I know That I would rather swallow a pill cam then get drugged up to swallow a 3 foot cable..
if they see something then I would go for the traditional. Most of the time in people that have symptoms and they want that warm fuzzy fealing
that nothing is radically wrong then this should be the way to go.

There is talk of people looking into the pills to measure things as well.

Perhaps in the future you will swallow the camera and they can put a string on it and pull it back out!
And you can swallow it again!

Hey perhaps I should suggest that to somebody!
